Advice on new card.

Hey guys.

I built my first gaming rig last year and now that I have got some spare cash I want to upgrade my graphics card.

My specs:

I52500
Asus P8Z68 V-PRO
Evga GTX 570
Corsair 750w V2

I have a max budget of 500 Pounds and dont know what card to get. Will i need to change my power supply?

Firstly - your PSU is fine for any single card upgrade.

Second - Do you have a preference for Nvidia or AMD ?

What res is your monitor?

I'm not really up to scratch on computers. So I take it an amd would work with my motherboard? My resolution is 1920 x 1600

You can run either.

With the recent AMD monster driver release it would be hard not recommend them.

I've never had a AMD card but by whats been said on this forum it looks
like the 7950 is the way to go.

I stupidly bought the standard I52500 not the k version so can not overclock. So the 7950 Is the best choice. Any in Particular?

I have Some spare cash and want a new card. With games like Arma 3 and gta 5 coming out I want a better card.

If Arma 3 is anything like Arma 2, you'll be looking at upgrading your CPU over your gfx.

To be fair, if you have £500, if you spend that solely on a gpu or two you will probably limit yourself a lot i'd imagine (I know nothing about the 2500 mind so may be worth checking., but the 2500K will do you good for a long time)

But i'd probably go for:

If the OP's mobo can support IB, then a 3570K is probably the better choice:

ASUS site says 2nd gen intel chips only.

Still, an immense chip and a good deal at £155.

Ok so you guys think I should upgrade from the 2500 to the 2500k? I know nothing about overclocking and presume I would need more fans to keep it cool?

Do you have the stock cooler fitted? Yes to get the most of it you'll need a aftermarket cpu cooler so it can be overclocked and run to it's potential. It's pretty simple to do once you follow a guide.

Yes I have the stock cooler. All I wanted is a new card so your saying that it's not worth it unless I get the 2500k and over clock it which means the new cpu, cooler then a new gpu card.

Yeah, as said ARMA is heavy on cpu usage so it would just be a bottleneck for the gpu.
