Purple shirt insurance is an absolute joke.

I use M&S insurance (highest level, cant remember what its called).

Pricey, but literally everything we own is covered for accidental damage (inc. bikes), theft etc abroad and in the flat. Claimed once ages ago because I lost my phone, was straightforward. Definately a lot cheaper than getting mobile/bike insurance seperately.

I hate everytime I buy an item, get offered insurance, always say no thanks, I have good enough home insurance, then they try to convince me that just because I have a (tiny) excess, I should go and spend £10 or whatever per month because their excess is a couple of quid less....

A Whatever Happens Care Plan offers you free repair or replacement for your product should anything go wrong; from minor mishaps to major breakdown.

To be fair it's your fault for not reading what it covers.

Stop complaining about not having money and then saying you're going to spend on Secret Santas. Look at your monthly outgoings and just work out what you can and can't afford. Cut out what you can't.
How much are you spending on a mobile phone? Can you drop down to a cheaper tariff with less minutes/a worse phone?
How much are you spending on broadband? Ditto.
What about food? Go down to value/own brands where possible.
Do you drink or smoke? Cut down on these as well.

Nope. Apparently one of them had been twitter fraped or something, and the other one had just heard a rumour about it so posted up. They are now tracking a 3rd guy.

I think the other 2 are lying but what can I do?

The laptop has basically gone, we can't afford another, which leaves Jenny without anything to do her work on, and leaves me without anything to DJ with. All because some people can't get their own so they steal someone else's.

If you area student you can claim off your parents house hold insurance, or more precisely they can claim on your behalf. I did this when I was a student and dropped a camera lens. There were no issues whatsoever and my parents didn't have any fancy insurance, bog standard house hold plus contents.

This isn't actually true in all cases.

It depends on the insurers terms, for example my parents policy stated that I must live in a 'self contained room' ie. even if I was in a house share there had to be a lock on my door and my own toilet etc in the room.

It's worth checking out, though. But different insurers have different terms as to what will and won't qualify under it.

I can't imagine he would be covered under it when the item is away from home too; but it's worth a check perhaps.

What happened the last time he got something for free on here? Didn't he sell it :o.

Re: the thread as a whole/the OP, perhaps stop buying stuff you don't need?

I'm sure I remember you posting about another set of headphones your mother had bought you for Christmas, when we had the Christmas presents thread...

Wtf?! This isn't a witch hunt, and it isn't the Daily Mail!
Jesus.

Go and do something useful instead of picking through old threads for a juicy morsel.
