Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

Thanks. That's what I've got. So where it's getting the flag to install 32-bit from, I don't know.

If you're running the upgrade on a 32 bit OS that it will install the 32 bit version, though if you boot off a usb drive or DVD and choose to save nothing it should let you do an install of the 64 bit version.

With regards to this 32-bit and 64-bit nonsense. It looks like both versions are downloaded to the same 2GB temp file.

Then depending on which system you create the media or run the setup within, that's the version of Windows 8 you'll get.

So now I've nabbed my 64-bit Windows 7 disc back and reinstalled it, I ran the wizard again and re-created the USB drive which has less space free now than it did before so I must have the 64-bit version. Yay! I am happy once again.

All installed fine with installer i did not bother creating a disk and its completed fine with SSD and HDD plugged in.

Anyone run Avast i noticed network shield does not work? also its weird where my computer lol

I take it I can only install the upgrade on one computer ? I ask because the upgrade assistant goes through all the steps on my laptop but not my desktop and it's annoying the hell out of me. It says it can't connect on the desktop but goes through to the ordering page on the laptop.

SO I still have a windows OLD folder, I would guess I dont need to keep this right?...can I jsut delete this?

Actually tried too but its saying about a SYSTEM permission or something and I cant remove it.

Cool, my work scheme has the upgrade up now at a staff price of £6.15. Will be grabbing it later.

Someone says the upgrade version worked fine on a bare HDD, anyone else confirm this?

Strange as upgrade from Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64 OEM to Windows 8 Pro x64 had failed to upgrade, but try unformatted SSD with clean installation Windows 8 Pro x64 and it working perfect and activated. I had create media USB flash memory stick 4GB during upgrade (for clean installation) good job I did that.

Windows 8 Pro upgrade failed

no you have to have a previous install on the system.

If it has installed go into settings, general, at the bottom there are options to wipe windows 8 so its like a fresh install try that first

Big problem the whole lots gone Pete Tong, restored my Win7 from back up,but Ive lost my ISO how do you get it to download again, all it wants to do is sell me another upgrade?

Does anyone have a spare Media Centre Pack upgrade key that I could use please?

It seems that the upgrade page isn't working now and I really would like to use the pack as I want to use Windows 8 as a HTPC OS.
