Has anyone else seen this?

The Telegraph said:
Belgian police have imposed a news blackout after Nicholas Mockford, 60, was shot as he left an Italian restaurant in Neder-over-Heembeek, a suburb of the capital.

The executive was shot three times, once as he lay on the ground, after leaving the Da Marcello restaurant in Rue de Beyseghem at around 10pm on Oct 14.

His wife, Mary, was left beaten and covered in blood. Mr Mockford died on the way to hospital.

Witnesses said they saw the couple walk across the street to their car, a silver Lexus 4x4, before shots were fired.

The attack was said to have happened very quickly and Mrs Mockford was left cradling her husband in the street, shouting for help. According to reports, two men were seen running away carrying a motorcycle helmet.

The Telegraph said:
"He was shot so calmly and so quickly, it smacks horribly of a professional hit, but we can't fathom why. He isn't the type to cave in to blackmail and it just doesn't compute."

There doesn't seem to be much information on this yet as most parties involved seem to be pretty clueless as to why it could have happened.

It will be interesting to follow & see what comes up.

My heart goes out to his family & friends.

He isn't the type to cave in to blackmail

Perhaps this is why.

It's pretty odd and I don't suppose we'll ever know any true reason for the hit. There is literally nothing about him on Google though apart from this attack.

shooting someone for a handbag does not really make much sense.....the risk of getting caught out weighs the benefit.

Even for retards that is just does not compute...lol

Why have a news blackout over a handbag theft attempt.

makes it look like a failed robbery did films teach you nothing ;)

I wouldn t have thought it was a professional hit. To shoot a guy 3 times, once whilst standing over him on the ground and he is still alive in the ambulance on the way to the hospital ?

Sounds amateurish to me.

You mean personal. If you put 3 slugs in a guy you're either making damn sure he's dead or making damn sure he sinks on his way across the Styx.

To be frank, I really don't care, considering the danger that most oil company workers face in certain inhospitable regions, I would almost say this is not something that bothers me.

I am sure though that the news will upgrade this to panic inducing news, simply due to the exalted location and the high-profile person.
