Wanted a new bag, to replace an old own brand from a major camera shop... it's not quite big enough and not very well padded...
So being a Lowepro fan been searching for a suitable replacement...

In the end bought one off the bay, more or less unused bag from a from nice seller..... a Magnum 650AW..... some said it was big, they were wrong.... it's HUGE.... now it does hold everything, well spaced out, but not sure I want to be seen walking around with it !!!!.....

No where these days can you look at stuff other than the mainstream fast moving stuff.... would really like to look and touch stuff before buying.

So now looking at a Stealth Reporter range..... Thinking also to have a bag that isn't quite big enough, then add Slip-Lock pockets when needing to carry everything.
Don't like rucksacks.... so looking at shoulder bags.

2 Pro bodies with grips, total 5 lens + Flash + few filters and odd's bits.

Worst "I forgot to check the dimensions" thread ever

Seriously, at least look for photos with someone using the bag before you buy it, this isn't much to do with internet shopping so much as you just not doing your research before buying. While you can't feel stuff on the internet, build quality etc is what reviews are for. Stuff like physical dimensions really are down to you to check

I did check dimensions,..... but it's not the same has getting a feel for the size and scale, and how the dividers work out to store stuff... Pictures on various sites are general poor, and don't even show the correct picture for the model your researching.....

So working out how stuff will nest together becomes guess work....

I'll probably keep the Magnum 650, as it's a good home base store to work from.... but something to decant too looks like it will be needed.

Gear can be see here

If you don't have an idea of how big it is from looking at the dimensions then you need to compare it to other bags you have :P Can't just read a bunch of Xmm by Xmm numbers and know what it'll look like :P

Lowepro have a bag calculator on their site where you enter what you want to fit inside and it gives you what bags are suitable. That might give you an idea of what kind of solutions are available.

I got my Tamrac bag from a shop that was happy for me to take all my gear into the shop, then spend at least an hour stuffing it in and out of the big selection of bags they had on display. Helped no end in my buying decision. Could have got it cheaper online but I'm more than happy to pay for the service and facilities they offered.

Can't link to them as they sell memory cards, so would be a OCuk competitor...

Exactly :D....

Did the Bag finder, apart from rollers and rucksacks it came up with what I have the M 650AW ... Used Canon 1D as they don't list Contax cameras ;)
