So are all phone prices gonna tumble now?

Are they doing an Amazon in hoping to make more money from services? Very interesting.

I guess Samsung et al would need to make their phones desirable by having added value in better hardware and software features.

yeah looks that way, the spec is top notch, and tbh anyone getting a new phone now would be foolish to over look the nexus4 at that price

So you'd rather spend £200+ more on a phone with expandable storage?

I'll spend a few quid on an OTG cable and my trusty USB stick for movies etc thanks ;)

Surely you don't have the need for so much music, movies etc on the device at the same time?

use the cloud that is free.

i would like more storage as well, but at that price for that spec, we are talking half the price of some like minded model.

Only problem with cloud is getting a decent connection, data caps and if you travel a lot abroad.

So for me cloud is near enough pointless as a dependable part of the phone.

But i would agree with.

Why, it has 16gb max which is useless to me and many many others!

I'd like 2TB of storage on my phone to mirror what I have on pc, am I going to get that any time soon? No.

So having 16/32/64Gb seems pretty academic to me, I'll still need to transfer files between the two devices anyway.

Yes, I don't want to walk around with a cable and usb stick in my pocket just so I can have a good selection of music and things on my phone.
The cloud at the moment isn't in a position to replace dedicated storage, or should I say wireless connectivity isn't.
Where as I'm almost certainly planning on getting a Nexus 10 tablet as it'll be used at home where I have constant WiFi access and don't mind hooking up an OTG cable.

What if you don't have unlimited data?

Can i keep my 30gb music collection and stream it free? genuine question.

then you are a silly boy for getting a bum contract :D

but yeah use a usb stick.

i agree i would have liked 32gig at least, but at that price for that spec - well it changes lots

Google Music gives you free space for up to 20,000 purchased or your own tracks uploaded, and with an unlimited data plan from Three available SIM only for £9.90 a month then why do you need more? :)

I'm still fine on 16GB. If I backed up photos and videos I've taken I could probably drop down to 8GB. Do microsd slots really add that much to the cost of a phone?

No, just like doubling the size of the flash memory doesn't cost manufacturers anything compared to what they charge us for it

People are defending the 16GB cap on storage!? - golly gosh open your eyes people...there should have been a bigger storage option at extra cost.

OT - 2nd hand prices on all phones will drop IMO.

As I said in the other thread, not necessarily. Are Apple going to drop the price of their iPhone even though this product is technologically superior in almost every way? No. Why? Because it has a reputation to uphold as a premium device.

Google have to get the marketing for this thing absolutely spot on and I mean nailed harder than a pornstar at Ron Jeremys stag do. If they can show the public they're actually getting more phone for less money, and that it's not wealthier people who buy iPhones (and S3s and HOX's and any other £500+ smartphone) but idiots, then we could see a downward shift in mobile pricing. But the consumer HAS to be clued up as to WHY they're getting such a good deal. They have to know that they're getting everything offered in the more expensive devices, and more, for less, and it's literally that simple.

If it's marketed as a budget option prices of the premium devices will barely budge an inch, because there will still be a value to the exclusivity and brand. They may drop a little to just keep people interested but don't expect to see £280 the new top end smartphone price across the board.

I just don't think the cloud is a good idea until there is excellent uncapped 4g in place, that's going to be a while!

I think the cheapest is £12.90 now isn't it? Can't see a £9.90 one on the website.
