'Sup guys!

I need answers from cunning people to one simple question; what is the absolute minimum fps I should expect from two Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB @ 1050 mhz in Battlefield 3, ultra settings in 1080p (Let's say 64p Caspian, for example)?

Specs are:
i5 2500k @ stock
Corsair Vengeance 4x4 @ 1600 mhz
OCZ ZT Series 750w
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H

Thanks!

I would think your CPU would determine your minimums on 64-man maps. Try and over clock a little if you can.

As Gregster pointed out, you have plenty if GPU horsepower at that resolution.

~55fps.

Based on experience with 2X6950>70@950MHz, but in order to achieve that, you will need to oc your cpu to ~4.5GHz.

Before you jump in, find out how CrossFire works though.

:)

my 7870/2500k has a minimum of about about 45~ ultra 1080p. That was on singleplayer

oc your i5, and you should get >60fps minimum

Wow, so many quick answers! I like it.

OnT: Should I really get minimum 60 (or 55, as one person said)? Because I don't, at full ultra it frequently drops below (sometimes as low as below 50), even (in some maps, Caspian for example) in empty servers and I get rather irritating stutter. I've OC:ed my i5 to 4.5ghz to no avail. I'm running the latest performance drivers by AMD (12.11) with the latest CAP.
I've tried disabling ULPS, uninstalling old drivers with Driver Sweeper and reinstalling, overclocking, underclocking, flipping the cards, reseating the cards, switching motherboard and updating my BIOS. I've also heard that BF3 players have experienced significant performance issues since the latest patch (AK release, I believe). Do my cards underperform or is this normal?

Thanks again!

Low FPS happens in BF3, regardless of the cards. People running SLi 680s still dip down to 30-40 fps in certain situations.

You're right - they don't.

I don't even dip that low with one 680.

They do.

There was a long thread about it on another forum(i forgot which), where they tested multiple setups, and in the same situation on Gulf of Oman, the FPS would dip to 30-40s.

But it's only on that and Strike at Karkand where this happens.

Mine drops to 50's on those maps but not 30's and 40's and as I said - that's a single card.

And anyway even if that was true, you should have stated that rather than passing it off as a general rule of thumb.

So it means that my drops are normal? I can get a good flow first when lowering the mesh and shadow settings to respectively medium and low. Even then, I can get drops down to 57-58 (Caspian 64p). It might not be a big deal, but I do notice it. I'm very sensitive.

It's not the maps, it's certain places in the maps.
Sure, its not a thing most people would notice, but it goes to explain that fps drops in Battlefield 3 is a common occurrence.
