Need for Speed™ Most Wanted Limited Edition

Something else I forgot to mention, if you want to take a 90 degree angled street at ANY speed, forget about it, it's just a pain in the arse. The cars just don't want to go where you direct them to go which was frustrating for me when I tried to turn at like 20mph or something.

I'm gonna stop posting negative stuff now so that people who do like it won't get annoyed at the constant negativity. I think I'll just go back and play the original Most Wanted, Carbon or Undercover or something. More fun and less frustrating for the fans of the underground street racer NFS cycle which I think the majority of NFS fans wanted this to be. If you love Burnout though, you're gonna love this I expect. Otherwise, stay away imho.

For those that have stutter change LockTo30=false to LockTo30=true in the file config.NFS13Save.

This caps the frame rate to 30fps and eliminates the stutter. It really isn't that bad so give it a go.

Unfortunately the overall game is quite poor in my opinion :(

The disparity between this thread and the console thread plus the reviews of console versions points more to a shoddy PC port than anything else.

Having played a bit thanks to proxy I think MP will be my main focus here.

The SP has some really awful design decisions which I simply cant fathom.

No option to retry a race if you want to, very noticeable AI rubber banding (A staple of arcade racers I know but overly noticable here), very loose objectives - this nonsense per car race set just baffles, having to travel everywhere to one of those few races, having to lose the rocket car driving cops every 5 seconds and not being able to enter a race with them behind you, and so on.

This is nothing to do with the port - thankfully Im having no issues aside from the odd glitchy texture. Im just glad the MP still seems fun.

I will say in its defense the controls, in my experience are fine and nowhere near as bad as some have mentioned.

At least they've had the sense not to release it with an unremovable 30fps cap like some of their other games (The Run, 1st patch for Pro Street etc).

Really sorry, but no I never did. That sounds pretty similar to what I naturally started gravitating towards here though. It's just not something I think looks or works very well personally so it's a negative for me. Sounds like it may be a positive for you though, which is great.

It's not really a positive as I found it made the game too easy, there was very little need to brake. My preference on handling tends to be a middle ground between arcade and sim, which the NFS series has delivered in the past (Porsche 2000, Shift1/2 etc). Games where the best approach to a bend is to keep it floored and bounce off the walls leave me cold after a while, but equally I don't have the patience for games whereby holding down the accelerator just gives wheelspin and you end up facing the wrong way even on a straight..

This is what happens when we have game developers making games for consoles with 7 year old hardware then porting to pc.
Watch this space plenty more dated looking low res looking ported games to come for pc, I despair.

Ironically, The Run was patched and cap was removed. The game runs at 60fps now and looks stunning at highest details. In fact The Run is my favourite NFS since original Most Wanted. So god damn good. I disliked Hot Pursuit from Criterion and Most Wanted from them does not look much better.

Yeah, I waited for the 30fps cap to be removed before getting it.

Atrocious port in terms of controls though, in the simon says sections where you have to evade the cops on foot etc if just flashes up xbox buttons so you have no idea what keys you have to press :/
One section took me at least a dozen tries of trial and error, learning what buttons meant what.

Anyway to remove the ( heat incressed & other spammy stuff ) from poping up realy off putting mid race to see that

No option to retry a race if you want to,

Not sure if it's been addressed by anyone else, but you can retry last race from the EASYDRIVE menu right after a race, also if you pause it before the race ends you can retry from the pause menu.

I do agree with some other points you make, only played 3 hours and alread 46% main story complete. Exploring is fun though. Not bothered with multiplayer, seems like a timesink.

Having horrible frame issues too. Goes from an EASY 60 to 20s for no apparent reason and stays there for no apparent reason. Geometry and Ambient Occlusion reductions help a little.

My view exactly. I also liked Sega GT 2002 on the original Xbox.

guys does anyone know how to reset the controls to default ?

it wont let me calibrate the keys on my keyboard just keeps going back to the game when i press enter?

any ideas >?

Missed that initially thanks.

Gave it a bit more of a try but I just cant get into it. Every time I think im having a bit of fun I try a frustrating race.
Having to go get boost in every new car, then only being able to drive your favorite car for 5 races seems very strange. Also the front runner in some races gets completely ignored by the police at times making them bloody hard to catch. Guess overall game just isnt 'me'. :(

am i the only one who is having 0 problems with this and is enjoying the **** out of it? It's really fun.

what a horrible god awful game

me driving a v8 atom, copper out accelerates me in his donut mobile wtf ?
