Buy early, sell late? Any players you'd recommend looking at to start with? Made a few thousand a couple of weeks back buying and selling Ronaldinhos, but then the IF hit and prices went wacky.

Its a bit like that but you really need to get the feel when bidding for players. Sometimes i noticed that crazy people are on trying to bid against you and you soon realise that the time is not right. I done some trading late at night and managed to pick up a few good deals
I've just been making money off the team of the week players. For e.g. a few weeks back when Suarez got his hattrick I bought tons of the normal version for 30k each, sold them for 50k each on the Tuesday before the new TOTW would be announced. Did the same with Alba last week, and Rooney this week. I don't see myself playing a lot now for the next few months due to other games I want to play, so I've just sold my whole team and I'm sittin on 1.2mill, will just use that to trade with until Christmas when the prices drop and get an awesome team.
How come prices for normal players go up on the last day of TOTW? I'd have expected them to decline, as people will know that they'll be back in packs the next day....
It's not just the last day they go up - they go up gradually from Wednesday - Tuesday (sometimes the highest selling point is Saturday night.)
There's just less of them on the market and I assume some people are just impatient... I'm not complaining.
I was a bit surprised at how little Rooney's price went up this week to be honest. I could only afford two of him at the time, bought them for 170k each and sold for 190k each. A few weeks back when Ribery was in the TOTW (I already had him in my team before totw was announced) his price rocketed from 450k - 550k.
It only works if you buy the players immediately after the real life game when they've done well (risky, they may not be in the totw) or literally within 30 seconds of the TOTW being announced, as everyone is in a rush to buy them all up.
I only try and do it with good players who are in demand, or very rare players (e.g. suarez, alba, rooney) - Alba was a bit riskier because he's only 81 rated and there are so many of them, but because he's the fastest LB in la liga I thought it would be worth the risk. I think I made about 8k profit each on 10 of them.
Ahhh right, so you mean you buy them before TOTW comes out? That makes more sense, made a bit of money on Ronaldinho that way. I thought you meant you bought them during the TOTW week.

I bought the Suarez's after the Liverpool game where he got a hattrick as I was 99% sure he'd get in the TOTW. For the others I was pressing F5 on the EA forums every second at 3pm on Wednesday waiting for the TOTW post and just snapped up the players as soon as it came up. Even if you're 5 mins late to the party it's just not worth it, the prices will have risen too much.
