GTX 670 for £263.99, good deal?

After 12.11's is there any reason to get a 670 over a much cheaper 7950? Just curious.

I'd say no.

Physx, a big reason for some!

For some uninformed people. There's barely anything that even uses it.

From my experience, most of the people who claim PhysX is big and a must also don't realise that a lot of the "PhysX" games they're playing don't even use the GPU for PhysX.

The latest game bundle with AMD cards will bring more value than PhysX.

I would say yes if you prefer the green team. If your not bothered you can get a 7970 for slightly more.

What is this experience you have with physX and people?

It is pure hatred for PhysX. Anytime someone dares to mention it, it is a torrent of hatred towards that poster. It is becoming tiresome with every thread mentioning PhysX.

Can AMD do PhysX? No is the answer.

Not a 7970, a 7950. 7970s are overpriced.

As for "preferring the green team" I'd imagine most people would prefer more money in their wallet and more performance.

Oh, I missed that bit out, most of the people who claim PhysX is big and a must also don't realise that a lot of the "PhysX" games they're playing don't even use the GPU for PhysX.

Clearly you don't know what pure hatred means. Get a grip Greg and stop whinging yet again.

My point proven.

Ohhh and to answer the OP, I think it is a good price and certainly needed in terms of Nvidia pricing. The 7950 performs better though and is still slightly cheaper. I would buy a 7950 if you wasn't bothered about PhysX games or have any interest in using Nvidias 3D Vision.

In fairness if I didn't have a 670 I'd be tempted by a 7970 (not so much a 7950 as I don't like the cooler options available).

However knowing my luck as soon as I did Nvidia would release some drivers that would boost their cards performance by at least as much as the new AMD ones did.

Also, don't the AMD cards run hotter than the Nvidia ones this generation?

Not from what I've seen. The different seems to be in load power draw and noise. 7-series draws more power on load and is a bit louder (talking reference here).
