Well I've just sold my 64GB iPad 3 for an incredible £200 loss :( (stupid, I know)

I now have the money to buy a 64GB iPad 4 and a 32GB iPad Mini for the Wife. What's the chances of being able to walk in to the purple shirt store on Friday afternoon and picking them up, or should I just buy direct from Apple and wait for however long it takes?

Don't need the Mini till Christmas but would like the iPad 4 ASAP

Thoughts?

I really don't understand why you would take a £200 loss (fair enough if it was an ebay auction) but just to have the latest tech that's ridiculous

Thing is I always intended to upgrade every year and I figured Apple are most likely going to move to a November refresh. Now whether I sold it now or next November I was always going to take a big loss because of it being a discontinued model. At least this way I get to use the latest iPad now and enjoy any improved Apps that come along due to it being twice as fast :)

Do remember if I had decided to keep and sell next November it would be 1.5 years old and competing with the iPad 4 in the second hand market.

BTW I sold it on a forum but eBay prices have been around £400 so that's roughly £350 after fees

Your man-maths is excellent!

...although if you'd sold it next November you'd have the iPad 5..in fact you probably will, so there another £200!

From the purple shirt store I doubt you'd have much luck.

If you fancy queueing up at an Apple Store at 6am on friday you might have a better chance :)

My man-maths as also worked out that if I had kept the iPad 3 it would be worth at least £100 less than what I got today which equates to me losing £100 less on next years re-fresh :D

Unfortunately there isn't a Apple store in Nottingham and I'm at work till 2pm :(

I bought an iPad 3 in June I think, I have absolutely zero want for the iPad 4 (or the iPad 3 v2 in reality). What on earth would make you want to upgrade at such a cost? I cannot get my head round it at all.

Your on a tech forum where people are constantly upgrading GPU's, CPU's and iPads! often at a great loss but hey you gotta have a hobby ;)

bit of a pointless upgrade tbh, no app available takes full advantage of the ipad 3 yet.

KRCS in Vic Centre might be a good bet, they're not telling anyone over twitter their plans though. They're opening normal time however, 9:30.

a reseller is your best bet. i dont finish work til 4pm but am hoping to pick up a mini from a reseller.

good luck though chap.

At the end of the day its his money and he can spend it however he likes, so instead of giving him grief just answer his question.

My other half is hoping she can walk into Apple tomorrow and pick up an iPad 4 after return her iPad 3 last week, can see the sulking already if she doesn't get one.

something tells me that they'll have 4's but not mini's
