Hi, my current PSU is pretty loud, and I'm looking at replacing it tbh (which really sucks as it's money down the drain :( ). No real plan for x-fire or SLI, but I would want a PSU that would handle such a system.

Quiet, is the aim of the exercise.

Thoughts?

It is loud, I have a stock intel cooler but when I place my ear towards and away from the PSU, the noise seems to come from there.

I could try a cheap cooler and see if that's the issue?

Any recommendations?

I meant to reply to the post with the link to the 460W PSU...

Well its certainly powerful enough. Unless you need to x-fire then its more than ample with the amount of Amps on the 12V rail, very quiet seeing as its fanless. Made by Seasonic and with GPU's using less power every generation...

I don't want a tiny PSU, thanks. As I have said already at least twice, and in the title. What use is 460W PSU should I go X-FIRE/SLI?

The Seasonic Platinum linked to above is your best bet. Silent at low load and a very quiet fan. They do a 1000watt model if you really need that much.

Thanks, real expensive though. I'll stick this on the wishlist, and on the project backburner.Gonna see what i can do about the one I have first, I wonder if replacing the fan is an option? - I know it will invalidate the warranty, but I'll risk it.

What is wrong with you? Will you be x-firing or not. If you aren't you don't need a powerful PSU. Also does your mobo even support it.
