So I missed my train for Glasgow this morning. Fell asleep before setting my alarm :S I had pre-booked my ticket and now I'm wondering if I can use that in any way to pay towards the more expensive later trains. It's be a shame for it to be a waste.

Does anyone know if I can do this or alternative options? I've looked into it on google but all I could find was info on if you missed a train because of delays.

Thank you.

I'd be very surprised if you got any leniency here - after all, it's not their fault you missed the train!

I suspect that you'll be needing to buy a new full-price ticket.

I would just ******** and tell them you train was delay resulting in your missing your connection they might not even check and just issue you a warrent to travel. Other that than you almost alway have to purchase a single full price ticket, this has happened to me before and I learnt the expensive way not to miss my orginal train and now I just tend to pay a little extra so I can get on any train.

Depends on what type of ticket you have, if it is specifically for that one train (with the time printed on it) you can't use it on another, pay for a new ticket.

If however it is one to Glasgow without a time but a timed reservation for a seat you can just use the ticket on a later train (as there is no indication to when you should be on the train on the actual ticket). Just sit on an unreserved seat and you'll be fine.

Unlikely. I have missed a pre booked train on christmas eve before due to the same operators connection train getting me in late to the station. Had to pay the whole price of a ticket upfront again for the next one :(
