Hi there

I have an Asrock motherboard z77 extreme 4 m.
intel i5 3570 ivybridge
corsair cx 750 powersupply

team xtreme 2 x 4gb ddr ram

I get no post, no display. 4 beeps then restart, 4 beeps then restart, over and over again.

No memory inserted i get 3 long beeps. i then insert memory and get the 4 short beeps and restart over and over. any ideas?

Thanks

everything plugged in correctly. Read manual.. no dbug.. im not sure where i would see the dbug number.. on screen? no display..

Motherboard has been changed, same faults on both..

i was leaning towars ram.. weird for both to not work though.. I've tried all combos of ram..

have tried ram in both MOBO's but same issue. no other ram to try though.

it won't hurt if you update of course...which one do you have?

check with cpu-z....download latest from site to you usb key and flash within bios....

The debugger is on the motherboard, looks a little like this;

Looking at a diagram for your motherboard it should be to the left of the power and reset buttons that are on the motherboard, at the bottom around the middle.

IT WAS RAM!! :)

thanks guys. i ordered some more to arrive tomorrow but i couldn't wait until then to make some progress. i popped into PC World today (that shows the desperation) and picked up a cheap stick just to find out. I also got an air duster to try cleaning the slots and reinserting the original RAM, but that brought no joy. I put the new £14.99 overpriced rubbish but cheap enough for an experiment RAM into the MOBO and it worked straight away.

It does mean the a perfectly good motherboard has been returned, but it was the place i got it that said i should return it..

It has been a saga but we got there in the end... Just in the aim of learning though.. how would i have known that it was the memory causing the issue with very limited IT resources? it is a shame that a good motherboard went back,, and it feels like it shouldn't have been as difficult as it was.

My lack of recent experience led to a feeling of doubt and thinking that maybe i had done something wrong..

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 M Beep code for four beeps... is RAM..

Also why was that info not easily available?

Thanks for the help guys
