My phone seems to have bricked itself for no reason whatsoever, I have not messed with any of the settings and other than a firmware update recently(which went fine) nothing has been changed.

I figured the battery might have run down fast as i have been in an area with no signal but when I got back and put it on charge it the indicator light didn't appear. It has not been dropped or had any water ingress(other than 4 months ago, so im ruling that out). The only thing I noticed today that was rather odd was that the phone turned itself off, I figured the battery had run low(it should have been on 40% at a guess). A few minutes after it that turned itself back on again and I thought nothing of it. The next time I check it, it's dead.

Its been on charge for a few hours now and i've tried the reset by holding the vol down button then holding the power button but no luck. I've also tried holding down the power button for various lengths of time just incase that would work :p

Is there anything else I can try??

I wouldn't be so bothered but i'm meant to be meeting up in london later in an area I don't really know and I don't want the person to think I stood them up. The only other method of contact is facebook but I don't know how often they check it. Unfortunately I didn't save the number to my sim and unless the texts are saved there really is nothing else I can do. I really was relying on my phone for this.

Brilliant timing........

no p***** for you the night good sir :P

I'm still going to head into London anyway but it might turn out to be a giant waste of my time as she will probably try ringing me beforehand, assume i'm going to be a no show and probably won't turn up. It's not a date, but it's not really the kind of first impression you want to give someone regardless.

It is quite funny really, well kind of, scenarios this ridiculous could happen to no one else.

have you tried just setting the battery out for about 30mins so the device is completely de-charged. may or may not work

What about an old phone to get you away - Best of luck this evening

It's not a phone I need but the information within my bricked one.

Unfortunately like a lot of newer phones the One S has a sealed battery. Thats not the kind of thing I want to be messing with if I will potentially have to get it sent back under warranty.

You shouldn't rule that out - water ingress can cause all kinds of corrosion that may not show up immediately.

I am aware of that but if it was true, I wouldn't be able to boot my phone up and it would be the end of the line.

I would sooner assume its something I can fix(at least temporarily). If that makes sense?

SEND IT BACK !!! :p

(Try connecting it to the mains and hold down the power button for 30 seconds)

I have tried that more than a few times, sometimes I even have hope that it will work :p

Looks like sending it back is going to be the next thing on my agenda.

Had this happen to mine, I left it on charge for a few hours and then performed a reset. Think you just hold the power button down.

I hope it does that in the next 20 minutes because thats all the time I have left before I need to leave.

I've read that leaving it plugged into a computer instead of the charger may help, so i'm trying that.

Take the SIM out and chuck it in an old phone in case she tries to ring you:confused:

I dont have an old phone but I guess buying a cheap phone wouldn't have been out of the question. Fortunately she did turn up, so all went well.

Turns out it was a date :p
