Games similar to Mass Effect?

Just completed ME 1,2 & 3 and was wondering if there were any other games like these, not necessarily space orientated just with decision making etc? Pref with a decent story :)
 
Definitely go for Dragon Age, same developer so pretty similar (in some ways it is more advanced than ME games, e.g. teammates tactics)
 
I enjoyed Dragon Age 1, especially its well written characters, but I hated most of its combat and all of its utter genericness....I mean, main enemy called "Darkspawn" ? Really? Everything about DAO universe is so....generic, run of the mill.

Witcher 1/2 are infinitely better when it comes to setting/antagonists/uniqueness.
 
Definitely have a playthrough of the KOTOR games if you never played them before. You don't even have to be a Star Wars fan, I wasn't and infact the franchise was putting me off but most definitely worth a try.

I'd say both games do start off a little weak but definitely pick up after a few hours.
