All I can say is WOW what a difference!!
previously had the yongnuo 565ex and had nothing but problems with it, just bought myself the nikon sb700 and it just works.

personal opinion dont buy yongnuo unless you wanna learn from your mistakes and buy something that actually works.

i shall try to do a proper mini review in the next couple of days with sample shots.

When i was a canon shooter, the yongnuo 565 was great and worked a treat. the only thing i hated was the menu system it had. my sb-900 just works without having to go into the menu so i suppose tgats a bonus

My SB910 is awesome also, Only time i roll manual is if i'm going to effects on strobist work.

is that like strobe light where it flickers really fast? sorry for silly question!
if so how do you do that??

Flash is Strobist work, I mean when i'm going for an effect of lighting, Although flicker is RPT, I never use that though it's more for catching highspeed Shots or when shooting as press.:D

I had a play with one in Jessops over the weekend as I'd originally bought one of the 360AFD to go with my D600, but it doesn't look like they are compatible as the D600 was doing all sorts of odd things with it attached.

I was very impressed with the Sb700 and seriously tempted to get one with them having £25 cashback on at the moment.

Can someone help me understand my camera and flashes please?

I have a Nikon D5100. If I were to buy a flash, wouldI be able to sync the flash remotely - i.e. when it's not attached to the camera?

Also, I think there's a limitation of it being able to sync to shutter speeds no faster than 1/200. Is that much of a limitation? I've read about flash-filling, where the light is behind the subject and the subject needs brightening up. Will I be limited in that regard?

So far I've just used the flash in automode. I might see if I can get a proper one for Christmas. ;)
