Just installed one of these - excellent.

Runs pretty quick and nice and cool - a quick run of 5 IBT freeze test saw max temp of 54c and this is with fan that came with it :)

I know it's not a fantastic cpu - my i7-2700k is a much better processor - but to use in a day to day machine it's a good 'un .(partic. when you look at the price difference )

Overall very impressed. :)

Yeah they are great i use them for family and customer builds. With the money saved I advise them to get a 120gig ssd too.
I tend to build m-itx systems now as theres no need for big atx/m-atx cases for the average user.

I just popped a G550 (2.7ghz) in my HTPC and I too am impressed with its performance. I think that my impression of what I expected was based more on how a Celery CPU used to perform to how they do in the Socket 1155 type they are in now.
With a SSD drive for the OS (Win 8 pro x64) and then XBMC with a remote control it seems to work a treat.

exactly the same as i'm doing.

I have a 5450 in as well and hooked up to surround sound amp

I have a GT 430 NVidia card in to cover the video aspect and it runs fine with XBMC. I decided to give the latest nightly build a go, version 12, of XBMC and it seems very stable.
The audio aspect is controlled by an optical out from the motherboard to my Logitech Z5500 speakers.

I just build a new system with a g530. First new build in 5 years. With 8gb of ram and a SSD it should see me through the next 5 no problem.
