The funny thing is that I didn't actually mean any offence by it. Most people wouldn't let someone bash their door in and then sit upstairs and just wait for the police to arrive. Sure it's stupid but that's whats wrong with this country, we're expected to just take **** from someone breaking into our property.

You just took offence and started throwing insults because you've misunderstood what I've wrote.

So as a summary just incase you find it hard.
- You made an advice thread but left out the most important part which is the timescale.
- You over-dramatized it because you're worried
- You forgot the Hovis Pic.
- You start throwing around insults because you think you should've just sat upstairs and phoned the police
- You're a coward
- I'm none of what you described lol.

Weekend, I have to phone them monday, I've also had some useful advice from this realising fact police didn't give me crime ref number so i'm gonna have to ring them I wasn't really told you needed anything like that. The police rushed off though because they had another emergency call and they'd send someone else round. Never did, but I suppose because I got nothing stolen so it wasn't on highest list of priorities at that moment.

Withholding rent is a breach or terms but, I'm sure it's acceptable to make the repairs and then deduct the money from the rent, which I different from withholding.
The house must be unsafe/uninhabitable and the cost must be realistic, and the agent must have demonstrated taking an unreasonable time to resolve it themselves.

If the front door is insecure would say more than 24hrs was unreasonable.

Have you actually spoke to the landlord? The letting agent is not the landlord. Ask for the landlords number from the letting agent or request a call from the landlord and discuss it. They won't want their property unsecured either.

The proper thing to do is give them a reasonable amount of time to resolve it and then if they don't, inform them you're getting it done yourself and will send them the bill to be reimbursed.

But if they have a flashy office somewhere, they probably won't appreciate someone making a scene in it, so I'd be tempted to go down there, preferably at a busy time when there are customers there, and loudly complain about the poor service you're getting. Ask to speak to the manager.
