Updated 2 weeks back. It's on latest bios. I've read others have had 3 or 4 cards of the same gpu be faulty, so it must not be that uncommon. I'm losing all faith in AMD.

I guess I have to wait until Monday:( I wont be home tomorrow....

Anyways..,. case and everything else working great only GPU needs to be sorted.

yeah but hang on a sec ok its an amd based card, but the designer and maker is msi,

So its not amd (ati as in opal fruits !!!) thats to blame.
If the card tested works in another system say am3, z68 etc then it would be interesting.

That's my 7850 back in there. thank god I have a back up gpu.

Lets face it, this card is crap. My friend just said now.....That's what you get for going AMD. He'll never buy a AMD card ever again because this has happened to him 3 times I can see why:(

;)

Thats the same feeling I got.

It's not so much ATi I just think the MSi TF HD 7950 has its fair share of problems.

So from this, he should change his mobo/cpu incase it works in another system?

no not at all I didnt say that at all, what i'm saying is that I believe there maybe a link between a bug or issue between the ivybridge chipsets and some gcards.

So If he had access to another pc that wasnt one of these and the card works ok then it at least rules out the cards.

Ahhh fair point. It would seem strange that the GPU would work in one PC as standard and not another though. They should be kind of universal fitting IMO and any BIOS updates for mobos should have been released months ago for these (on or before the GPU release).

From looking at things - Nvidia (stutter/blank screens) and AMD (whine/blank screens) - The sources are the same for AMD and Nvidia or their AIB`s. May have been a bad batch since it effected both camps.

What's with the denial? wasn't the nvidia forums enough proof for you?

Edit: I mentioned both camps having problems and that it happens sometimes - you on the other hand saying AMD only having problems is false. Do you honestly think the forums went down by magic and came back up after 3+ months. Both have problems sometimes - live with it dude.

Sorry If i've missed anything (I did read the majority of the posts) but are both systems Z77? Its really not as uncommon as you think for Z77 to outright reject a GPU, ask a D3H owner...a bios update on the motherboard is usually required to remedy it.

Otherwise, bad batch perhaps? It has happened in the past, in fact not so long ago there was a batch of HIS cards (7950's or 7850's I think?) that had no fan control and ran at a constant 100%.

Certainly unlucky if both cards are at fault, but your in good hands with MSI and OcUK.

Edit: And yes stutter on NV cards was sorted ~5 weeks after the 670 Launch :)

The stutter that some people had was fixed a while ago wasn't it

I never said Nvidia still have stutter problems (They did) - There are some black screens on other/this forums from both camps and it could be anything computer related, most/all use the same components (AIB`s) if there is a problem they would all have it - so it can`t be that is all am saying.

Now and then bad batch happens but it don`t mean its all the same. Am in the market for a couple of systems (darn MB`s) and am pretty confident to buy and not have problems ;) but thats not to say it doesn't happen sometimes on rare occasions lol

OP hope it works out for you
