Curved slats on bed keep popping out!

The curve is meant to go upwards.

Correct, then when weight is applied they should be then be a reasonable tight fit.

Always thought the plastic clip design is rather naff, got a ikea bed here, same problem.

Solve it by ditching plastic clip, & drilling right through the exsisting hole in frame & slat, then use a small M5,M6 bolt & nut right through to secure everything.

Looking at the slats I have, they could be a bit longer, for a better fit.

EDIT: Your bed frame looks slightly different to mine, so maybe self tappers to secure slats to frame or similar?

Just checked the bolts I used, steel countersunk BA1,BA2.

Second question they are right slats for the bed, box hadn't been tampered with?

The Bed probably bows out a little in the middle so its wider, are the slats slightly different length to take account of this flex, or are the side pieces bowed or warped?

Would have thought weight would flatten the slats and lengthen them so this doesn't happen

Ps maybe one of the slats isnt sitting rights in a grove or something and when it flattens and lengthens its pushing the sides apart and the other slats are falling out

Ps. return it tbh if its not a simple fix

I'm not sure how that would work though; the black things that hold them into place are plastic.

You can bore a hole large enough for the screw to pass through and countersink the hole a bit for the head of the screw. Don't overtighten the screw so that you don't crack the plastic. The strips will go nowhere.

with it being just the middle ones, are the sides warped atall? I have a similar bed, but mine dont come out. I can only imagine them coming out if they werent receiving adequate tension to keep them in place.

If you want to bodge it, fix a widthways struct holding the two side pieces in place. It sounds like the struts are pushing the thin sides outwards and just falling out.
Although really it is not fit for purpose and you should take it back, a bodge fix may not be easy to conceal given its construction (looks like vinyl wrapped wood?)

You could fix them either side with a screw or something, that should help.

+1

Thats what we did too: just a crew on each side to secure the slat to the frame

I guess on yours it would go through the black plastic, through the slat and into the frame :)

I suspect it's caused by the middle of the frame bowing outwards. I've got a similar bed from Ikea but they have metal rods that pull all the sides in to prevent this problem.

Send it back!

Thats the bed I have but the double version not single. They are the right way {curve up} You must be too heavy for the bed to cope. When the slats come out it means they are not in the covers properly.

It's not a weight issue.

Their is lots of feedback with the same problem I'm having, it really would be a pain to send back, they probably wouldn't even accept it back now anyway.

I guess it's a lesson learned.
