On the 24 month 'Truly Unlimited' package with no fair use policy.

You might remember there being a load of issues with this last year.

Last night I get a message saying I've reached the fair use policy data limit and my services will be restricted.

Called up t-mobile, and the customer service guy who would only identify himself as Vi despite me asking for his fully name, basically inferred that no such package ever existed, that I don't have unlimited data, and then even asked me if I know what the internet is?

T-mobile suck.

Anyone else on this plan hit the fair use policy? (that shouldn't even exist)

Last billing cycle about 1.5GB. This cycle about 700mb.

The outsourced call centre guy told me that my plan is limited to 500mb.

It's just laughable. Especially since I have a an email from their head office in Hatfield confirming that data volume is unlimited.

The call centre guy said it's impossible, then questioned me as to the location of this head office.

I used like 20Gb with T mobile last month and have had no such message from them?

I too am on the unlimited data plan (fair usage)

email to to MD complaints has been sent. I'm not messing about. I want this guy disciplined. I want the limits lifted and I want compensation for my poor experience and loss of service.

Haha yeah.

I'll dig up last year's ASA ruling on their ads. The ads which induced me into the contract.

The ASA considered that “Truly Unlimited Internet” was a very strong claim, and went beyond a typical “unlimited” internet claim, which we considered consumers understood would be likely to be subject to some limitations such as a FUP.

Although we noted that the plan was not subject to a FUP and that the three exceptions/restrictions were set out in the ads' small print, we considered that, to all intents and purposes, where an ad claimed that a plan was “Truly Unlimited”, exclusions would be contrary to a consumer’s expectations. We therefore considered that the information in the small print contradicted the headline claim “Truly Unlimited”.

Because we considered that exclusions to an internet plan advertised as “Truly Unlimited” would be contrary to consumers’ expectations and because we understood that restrictions had been imposed on the plan, we concluded that the claim was misleading.

The claim breached CAP Code (Edition 12) rules 3.1 (Misleading advertising), 3.7 (Substantiation), 3.9 (Qualification) and 3.11 (Exaggeration).

The "unlimited" flexible booster which used to exist before did have an FUP unfortunately. I remember avoiding T-mobile at the time because of this.

A friend of mine recently bought a Note2 and the Orange store had an offer that he would get Sky Sports and Spotify thrown in for free as he was on an unlimited deal, £36/month. 2 (two) days later he gets the FUP text and the call centre guy says there is no "unlimited internet" and the Sky Sports and Spotify deal are not allowed on his device!?

Needless to say he took it back and cancelled the contract. The in-store guys called up their HQ and were shocked and couldn't apologise enough. Truly shambolic.

30GB on a phone? Wow! What do you do on it? Download films and games?

I usually use about 800-900mb a month, just within my 1gb limit and that's with medium internet usage, super heavy whatsapp usage (not data intensive I know) and the odd app download (one every couple of days maybe?).

Spotify and SS are both OK on the device, I don't know what when down obviously but the issue is that both of those apps need to use a specific APN and if they are not setup correctly, they use your standard allowance. You can just call up the call centre or go into a shop to get this corrected, it's a fairly common fault with Orange currently.

EP - name was made up, wouldn't do any good. Your call was recorded anyway but it sounds like you just got angry with them anyway. You should have the T&Cs from the contract (would have been sent to you) along with the boosters if you got them - did you check them?

I read the terms and conditions to the guy as I was staring at them on my computer.

I also saved the pages and ads from the website. He wasn't interested.

He told me that they only do unlimited on the "Full Monty" package.

I patiently told him that my package preceded the "Fully Monty" package. He told me it can't have. He then told me to go into the store and ask, and I'll find out that only the "Full Monty" package has/had unlimited internet.

The guy was a total tool.

In My T-mobile it says i'm on Pay monthly 25 internet (24 months). It was the contract where if you signed up before September 2011 you were given unlimited Internet.

Glad I've decided to buy outright and go with giffgaff. T mobile seem to be a bunch of monkeys.

A colleague of mine was conned by 3. Someone from the 3 store, rang her and pretended to be an O2 employee and messed her contract around so she would leave and go with 3. I don't know the full story, but it's socking how bad things are.

Just wondering is this the one plan or any other plan that doesn't allow tethering

I'm curious, and perhaps Myshra has the answer.

I rarely tether, but I'm wondering how would a network know the difference between say tethering, and someone installing and running Ubuntu on their phone and hooked up to a screen, with bluetooth keyboard and mouse?

On multiple core phones Ubuntu and android can run side by side no problem, and share resources. On single core phones it's done a little differently.
