It was always said there would be a 7890 or a 7930 can't remember which was the more popular number. My guess would be 7930 as it's tahiti.

It certainly won't be a 7870le as it won't be a light edition. If its tahiti it should still be good at compute. I guess though it should be good news as the 7800 series will most likely drop in price as there's not to much of a price gap between the 7870 and the 7950 when looking at the cheapest model's

I always thought the 7890, which was going to be 384 bit, was going to be part of their earlier line-up. However, as we now know, there wouldn't have been enough 'room' between the 7870 and 7950 for it to be included at the time.

Will this be AMD's way of getting rid of their last duff cores before the 8xxx launches? In a similar way to the gtx560 448 core cards?

Will it fit in between the 7870 and the 7950 boost?

Could be Limited Edition possibly, if it happens/exists.

You could be correct. Was just guessing myself with the knowledge that most LE cards were crap so i guessed Light edition. Limited edition sounds so much better so i will go with that. I still think a tahiti card has a good chance of being 7930 but as there's not much difference between the 7870 and 7950 in price a 7890 limited edition might not harm sames of the 7950 to much compared with a 7930.

If it turns out to be a decent card then it's going to make sub £200 card choices interesting, especially with the 7950 so close to that price point.

I read somewhere that AMD were bringing 8xxx cards out in time for Christmas/ New Year at the latest.
So, this might be a way of stock clearing, ready for the new series.
