Free Battlefield 1942 on Origin!!

Is this bogstandard bf 1942, no addons included?

Not complaining just curious, am downloading atm

I have the deluxe cd rom with road to rome but one of the disks got scratched. This is great.

They managed to add native widescreen support to BF2. They could have done the same thing for 1942.

Still the best BF game to date imo, the huge maps, the ships, planes, tanks. Still my favourite one I've played so far.

They just need to re do this using frostbite 2.

I still think that WW2 is the best war setting. Would be epic, with flyable spitfires, messerschmitt's, bombers, bunkers etc....

Dont even get me started on WW2 tanks!

This worked for me, it doesn't apply it to the game menu's but it kicks in when the map starts loading - only problem I've had is the FOV is a bit skew when inside a tank but I can live with that.

rezolve I just tried that but it doesn't seem to work everything is HUGE and the guns you carry are massive. And graphics are generally blocky and lacking sharpness.

Bf2 got widescreen becuase the game was still been supported by ea/dice. 1942 patches and support stopped ages ago.

I have a 1920x1080 monitor and the monitor osd says its running @ 1680x1050.

Doesn't look bad though for a ten year old game.

Yeah I think it does stretch things a bit, I'm running the same res as you - did you make the change to the FOV as well as the resolution?

I was going to enable punkbuster but it says i have to download the latest patch.

Or can i play without it?

Unless you want to be prone to hacking, i suggest you don't play without it.
