Nadine Dorries. Conservative MP, going on i'm a celebrity

just so i'm clear, this woman is currently employed by the conservative party and thus is paid by the taxpayer?

How long will she be away for and doesn't she already get state paid holiday time anyway?

If she does this in her own holiday time i can't see the problem.

possibly up to a month with a £40k fee to appear on the show.

The MP could be disciplined if she misses a crucial vote on the EU budget and fails to turn up for George Osborne's autumn statement on the economy. Downing Street declined to comment.

She's absolutely mad, I'm surprised you people haven't heard of her. She's quite different from the image that the press like to portray Conservative MPs as, and I suppose it might be useful to have someone like her so publicly 'out there' as it may help to de-toxify the Conservatives image.
That being said, I don't think it's really the correct use of an MPs time and I'd be surprised if this had the backing of the majority of her constituents.

.....Celebrity? How do ITV legally get away with that under 'Description of Goods' or whatever the Broadcasting Standards equivalent is?

Well Spaz and Dec are their main anchors for their entertainment, so tahst where the descriptive gubbins starts.
Not likely to change anytime soon.

there must be some strange new definition of the word celebrity that I have been previously unaware of

i dont respect anyone who will eat kangaroo a-hole for publicity. just publicity whores and people with failed careers.

she shouldnt be paid for the time away, unless she is taking it as holiday.

They should put MPs on "I'm a p-lebrity, get me out of here" instead.

Heard on the news a short while ago that she has been suspended by the Chief Whip. Good...attention seeking *****

Pretending your a celebrity is clearly more Importaint than this country and she should be sacked.

If she misses a vote on the EU budget because shes being a celeb surely she should be sacked?

Parties trying to encourage people to vote for them when there members cant even be bothered to voteon important matters?
