What graphics card and power supply to buy with a budget of £358.

My birthday is coming up and I plan on buying a new graphics card for gaming, preferable something that will run BF3 and Arma 3 on high or ultra settings. My current power supply is a ATX- 500 so I'm guessing I will have to buy a new one as well?

£358 is very specific, do you already have something in mind.

7970 should run on a decent 500w.

I will take a look now and what make and model it is, I don't know what case I got and I have looked all over google and even this site for the case but can't find it, and I game at 1680 x 1050 resolution.

If you cant find the case, then can you measure the amount of room from the rear to the HDD cages to make sure any cards will actually fit inside.

I don't even know if this is the right information you need but from what I can make out the PSU is called Evo Labs ATX-500.

Actually don't bin it, take it to your local recycling center or consign it to a general purpose browsing/office machine that you don't really care about

Gigabyte 7950 windforce 3 O.C with games for £249. I have it and its a fantastic card but for some reason OCUK don't stock or have any supplys.

Should come under budget should have course you need to upgrade your PSU.

I can vouch for the HX650. I got it on offer for £70 but even for £90 it's a good deal. Feels quality, looks nice. All comes well packaged and is a good quality power supply. Will do you fine for a setup like you are wanting.

A 7970 would be fine for what you want. Great card.

Yes that's an excellent choice but there have been a few bad ones recently, possibly a bad batch. But the chances are it will be fine. Its certainly an excellent card for the price. Its what I have and I love it.
