Dual 7970s at 1440p

Well currently I have an iMac, RMBp but going to buy a crap load of stuff on the OCUK sale on the store opening day to make a windows pc rig. Will be using iMac as monitor. Il go get specs im buying and post here one second.

I am unfortunately as you can probably guess from my Apple collection a "willy waver" I can't help it.

I want a setup that can max all settings and play at good FPS. If you guys think that setup will do (obviously over clocked) I'm going to be setting of early to the OCUk shop this saturday and hope I'm early in line lol.

I have a 1440p monitor and just one 7970 and it plays BF3 on ultra very well. Lowest FPS I've seen is 30, but it's typically around 50. The weird thing though is that the 30 FPS I get on my 7970 feels way smoother than my old GTX 570 at 30FPS.

3570K and moar 7970. For BF3 your build really does burn some money for no good reason. Also that case is hideous (just my opinion, you can do much better). Especially if you get a CPU that is more aimed at gaming, you could get a nicer case/psu/ram or another graphics card lol. Nearly enough saving to start watercooling all that stuff.

You could get a 690 if you really wanted to willy wave...

Yeh Freddie, i'm a willy waver sorry =(

If you are a willy waver make sure you put that CPU into a Rampage 4 Extreme mobo. Thats as big as it gets, it is also the best for overclocks.

Edit just checked to make sure I spelled the last word in the paragraph above correctly.:D

One thing to keep in mind is that the Silver Arrow SB-E cooler is very wide and there doesn't seem to be a lot of distance between the CPU socket and top PCI-e slot (on a lot of X79 boards).
I'm guessing you'll be using the top slot with dual 7970s?
It may not be an issue on that board but something to keep in mind. I'm running a Rampage 4 Extreme and with the normal (thinner) Silver Arrow and there is millimetres of clearance between the cooler and the back of the top card.
