Auzentech X-Fi Prelude soundcard issues

I have the above mentioned card and about every 4 to 5 days the card will disappear from playback devices and all i can hear is loud static sounds out of my headphones and my pc will revert to the sound from my graphics card, i am running windows 7 64 and have tried all the drivers for the card including the PAX drivers.
My set-up is in my sig, if anybody's got any advice it will be much appreciated.

I'd pull the card out and reseat it, or try it in another PCI slot if you have one. If that doesn't help, I'd clean out the old drivers using a driver cleaner before trying the PAX ones. Un-installing alone leaves old files behind.

I have same card running perfect in Win 7 x64. I recently moved it into a friends machine as he needed a decent card for 5.1 gaming (I use multiple soundcards both internal/external).

Definitely try a different PCI slot and clean your drivers. Also de-select your graphics card as default device in sound properties. Sometimes HDMI can be cheeky and auto select itself I've found. Can you even disable your graphics card sound maybe?

thanks for the advice i gave driver sweep ago, i didn't realise how many files were still hidden on my pc.
Fingers crossed all will be good.
