Glasses driving me mad

I got my first pair of glasses last week and although they made my vision clear, they made my iPad look like a trapizoid and things lean over to the right. I phoned the opticians and at first they said as it was my first pair of glasses I would have to get used to them and to give it a week.

I went back on Monday and the optician gave me another eye test and said my eyes were not working together in sync and he would add a prism to my glasses to try to correct this.

I have collected the new glasses today and when looking at my iPad it is no better, although a little better with things leaning to the right.

Is this something my brain will compensate for in the end ? Or should I take them back?
Has anyone else had this with glasses

Any help much appreciated

Sell the iPad. It will make you a better person.

Other than that... you'll get used to it :)

I would be lost without it...never thought I would say that ;) I did think about telling the other half that my iPad is incompatible with glasses and that is why apple have bought out the new iPad ;)

That has cheered me up a bit. I just hope that everything goes back square again it is so odd.

Damn it. Were you with the guy who got that one from Comet? That shop where they print invisible receipts and remove your natural ability to take photo's and post responses on internet forums?

Lol. Joking aside I just got my tv from that shop wishing I hadn't now

Are you ok with a monitor?

TV is ok about 2-3 meters away just seems to be the iPad I guess as it is closer?

I could be totally wrong, but your brain is used to seeing things one way, now, with the glasses, the visual information comes in differently, but your brain is still compensating.. it will take a little while before you see a change, but it does come.. happens to me every time I change glasses..

You will slowly get used to them, my glasses with prisms in made a screen look curved for a couple of days.
Thanks for that :)
Really was getting quite worried. What is odd is...if I take them off now my vision doesn't go back to normal the distortion goes the other way? I guess my brain is already compensating then when intake them off throws it into confusion.
Thanks again:)

I think what you said is correct. I can't believe that you have to go through this every time you change glasses :( someone said even just a frame change can do it ?.

not sure about frame change. I tend to need a new prescription every few years, so, by the time I get new glasses, things have gone fuzzy.. brain compensates for this with old glasses, new glasses = instant clarity but brain is still trying to compensate for old lenses.. the last time, it was like a fisheye effect for a few days..

Get rid of your iPad?

sell the ipad, you might not get much now apparently they are only £100 new ;)

^^ This. iPad displays are notoriously poor, you're only hurting your eyes. Sell it and buy a proper tablet with a decent resolution.

Correct, but only if the frame is different. The frame shape affects the lens shape, and the lens shape affects the visual information. You will grow accustomed to it as your brain learns to compensate automatically. It takes about three days for my new glasses to feel right.

That makes sense now you have explained it ;)

Get a monacle, it will balance out the left/right dispensation and give you 20/20 vision.
Then I will have to dig out my telescope lol

I felt like that when I first got my glasses. I don't have any issues when wearing my contacts though. I think if you had bigger frames/lenses then you wouldn't have as much of a problem. I just got used to it in the end, still don't like driving in my glasses though.
