Pictures of people scanning QR Codes

QR Codes are stupid though, I dunno why so many big companies attach them to their adverts. Just make your url short and catchy so I can remember it, don't make me pull out my phone, navigate through to find the QR Reader I downloaded months ago and remember how it works again.

Popular Android devices can't be compromised by this any more anyway. Besides, I don't get this thread...

QR codes are brilliant, the uni's Primo has QR codes for books and journals etc, scan with phone at home get location and availability info, go to the library and go straight to where the books are. No need to have to faff about logging onto a computer seeing if the book is there and what not.

Best usage of this that I had seen was at the recent Eurogamer Expo at Earls Court. Some booth babes had them on their bits :o :D

Well thats not true, just the other month the S3 had a remote delete bug that could easily be triggered by this.

And this could also be done by entering an ISBN number into a search box.

QR Codes are the same as barcodes essentially, it is just a pictorial version of something that could just as easily be written in text. Now in a supermarket where thousands of items are being processed all the time this makes sense, but it doesn't when I'm being encouraged to scan in QR Code off some advert only to find out all it is the url to their website (which I could easily find via Google without any of their help anyway).

QRCodes and Readers are fundamentally no different to me writing some bit of information in German and then giving you a dictionary to translate it back into English again, yet no one would think that was 'cool'.
