yeah, I checked with cooling configurator, forgot it shows the PCB layout :)

Looking forward too it, this will be my 3rd 7970 this year and my 6th GPU this year!!

Keep the faith tommy. I've got military grade y-fronts and they've seen me through many 'tommy trott' episodes after a dodgy curry.

Ran motherboard isolated, posts (it didn't at first, forgot to put the memory back in - thanks 8 Pack :p).

Must have been a strange short somewhere, Lightning is still dead but at least the motherboard appears to be good to go.
 
At least I can breath easy now I only have the one RMA to deal with, will test the board properly tomorrow with the new 7970, going to leave the motherboard isolated from the chassis too with some nylon washers.
 
Got the new card today, all installed perfectly, running like a dream, really nice card for reference, could do with a backplate though ;)

Idling along at 30c IN THE MSI MOTHERBOARD!! Need to rebuild again at the weekend (tubing is preventing me running quad channel atm!) and get everything seated correctly.

The onboard audio on the xpower II is simply amazing, its some realtek/X-FI hybrid chip, think it has a built in headphone amp, just sounds incredible in virtual surround with headphones.

Onboard audio has come on leaps and bounds, the realtek 898 on mines pretty good, 50:50 on should i get a soundcard or not.
 
I'll most certainly be selling my xonar dx, onboard is so much nicer :)

Sig is staying till you admit you love it cleee :p

Had a good run of he card last night, asic of 65%, stock voltage of 1.175v and cool running as far as ref cards go, 64c on core, 50c on vrms at stock, will see what clocks I can get out of it over the weekend.

What fan speed was that pgi? You card sounds cooler than mine with a higher voltage at stock.
