hi all i could you a few oppinions in what is the best card to get my bro for his 18th bday.

He has a mid range system so far i think a 3.3ghz 4 core amd not 100 sure on the chip 4gb ddr3 but needs a graphics card to run games,
So i dont really want to spend any more then say £100 would pref the nvidia 600 range cards as it has there new kelper gpu. What you guys think

I was gonna say stretch to £120 for a 7850 1GB, but then I saw the current price of £150...

I honestly hope the price increase on the 7850s means that the 88xx cards are on the way soon...

All of the latest generation cards (both AMD and nvidia) are pretty poor value in that price range, not much good for gaming. For £100 you are better off looking at the second hand market. Perhaps you can get a 5870 or if you are lucky a gtx480.

so is it better to go for a mid range new 600 series or amd,
Or a more top-end type card in say the older 5oo or amd equivalent, all i want for him is a card that will last the longest amount of time for coping with games,
Also i do not really know much about amd so any help would be nice they dont seem to label there model of cards as easy as nvidia do

If a GTX650 is no good for Games, then why on earth are they selling them?
If reviewers are saying the GTX 650 or GTX650Ti ARE good for games, why are you lot saying they ain't any good????
You lot Puzzell me

Never listen to reviewers. They're mainly biased or have been slipped cash to provide favourable reviews.

:D

In relation to your comment, the cards are OK for gaming but you're looking at low settings on most games depending on the resolution. You can't expect miracles from a card which is aimed at those with such a small budget.
