Assassins Creed 3?

I never got the appeal with the AC series, Iv played 1 and 2 and found them boring as anything, the story seems interesting but the gameplay just wasnt there to keep me along for the ride.

Well I've got Connor and past his initial story and the game has indeed picked up a lot! Loads to do/explore and feels like a proper AC game now :) Still quite buggy in places but not game-breaking.

Quite enjoying the game now I am in the open world part. Think I have racked up around 12/13 hours so far just running around aimlessly collecting things. Combat still seems a tad easy, Spent about 15 minutes the other day with max wanted (cant remember name of it) in constant fighting. Must have had around 60 corpses or so at my feet before I got bored and ran off.

My biggest gripe about this game is that all the assasins are such bad ass killing machines yet seem to be unable to do the simplest things such as crouch or duck... plenty of times I have been stood by a wall that I have really needed to hide behind and when I walk up to it he jumps on top or climbs on top of it....ah well.

For people new to the series I would recommend just playing AC2 then AC3 and getting the rest of the story from Youtube. I think it's all but certain that anyone trying to start from AC1 (or even just do the Ezio trilogy) will burn out long before ever getting to AC3.

I'll most likely be waiting til this is cheaper, I am tempted by it but I'm also tired of the whole series and AC3 doesn't appear to be the groundbreaking title that we might have hoped for.

Not true :p

I picked up the pack from Steam the other week and have already played through AC1 and half way through AC2, I will be doing Brotherhood and Revelations too before I get AC3 on PC.

You've played one and a half games so far, that's 2 and a half to go before you can say it's not true :p.

Even if you do manage it, you'll be the exception, not the rule.

I managed it just fine. not sure where the hate for ac1 stems from, but i enjoyed. I say anyone would be fine provided they dont play every game back to back. then you might get bored of what, 150 hours + of essentially the same game in played in different settings.

Paid for this two days ago and amazon still haven't dispatched! Listed as in stock on their site as well. What has happened to amazon!

Did you choose free delivery?
If so, Amazon don't dispatch anything quickly if free shipping. By paying you are also paying for them to speed your order through their order chain.

Yes I paid for first class, It just dispatched 2 days later. I used to order stuff from them and it would be sent fast, lately amazon have been poor, dunno whether they've cut their staff. I wouldn't use express delivery as they use Yodel a very poor courier in my experience. Looking forward to playing AC3 asap!!!

I think that is the most enjoyable part of the game, in fact i don't think ive done any story missions in the last couple of days due to this.

Bugs aside its a really good game, although even as a fan of the AC games, I think i'm getting a bit fatigued by these yearly iterations (sure i've read their will be another one next November, again)

my 2 cents

i loved AC2 and sequels, but dissapointed by this one

1. bugs are way too numerous.
- seriously annoyed with quest icons not showing up on minimaps. (i had to google locations of quest givers for thieves etc..., many stores and waypoints not showing up on map)
- quests not updating correctly, had to restart game or find other glitches to complete quests (ie listen to washington, encyclopedia, chest in boston tavern when i bought the chest map, etc..)
- combat and movement have always plagued the series and it hasn't gotten better -> go left; no AI decides to hop on a wall right WTF. horses -> i walked in the end
- bought all outfits yet half my wardrobe at manor is missing?? i have 100% sync in all main missions
- guards randomly attacking you when u are incognito notoriety level
- i can live with graphical bugs, collisions etc... but annoyance with all the other issues

2. too many useless things
- hunting. QTE and just gets to be a drag
- menu system is pitiful (start , select ...)
- Pivot another waste of time
- Viewpoints used to be usefull now they are just a time waster since they don't reveal the map as you would expect
- trading is utterly rubbish, useless and interface/system is just cumbersome ->everytime scroll through so many useless items and do it one by one to fill 9+ slots zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- crafting - why? it's not like you need to craft armor or food. so u can craft a couple of guns i never used. also never understood the hidden recipe, or why so many mats for so little. artifical and a waste in the end
- many new assassin orders but ultimately useless, i just used assassinate except forced for side mission requirements -> use all skills twice
- pet animals? i didn't buy Animal Friends or tamagochi

3. things i just didn't like
- A native american raising a colony flag after liberation seems innapropriate and not very sensitive to what really happened to native americans. poor taste
- character was dull, but tbh i haven't loved the series for the main character
- first 4 sequences - long, annoying and linear - i felt like quitting but i knew it would eventually open up. if it was my first time playing the series i would have stopped the game
- movement is still as bad as ever. i was hoping for an improvement, but still frustrating
- a map on a blue background -> couldn't tell which parts i had discovered from what was undiscovered esp on frontier map
- no more upgrading armor
- no more upgrading towns
- trading convoy was poor mechanic
- no more thinking puzzles (or a lot less) ie platform, or those wierd puzzles, brought some nice variety to fighting and was a nice balancing touch
- almanac pages were a hastle, i prefered old style feathers where u had to figure out how to get them rather than a stupid chase
- lockpicking - no skill and just another time waster
- minigames were a pain and not fun in the slightest -> 9 man etc... i wanted an option to stand up and slap my opponent in the face
- story was uninteresting. no suspense, twisters etc...
- leaving animus was a chore and not very eventful - just a couple of mission, climb a building and a football stadium
- weapons, how about something cool - just seemed to be a lot of the same and in the end i use hidden blade 99% of the time, unless obj force me to use a specific weapon. also what happened to throwing weapons at enmies? axe chucking was fun
- hunting was annoying, and seriously what's with the Avatar like animation of blessing the animal after slaughtering it for fur to sell - nothing very moral or spiritual about it, just felt like cheap gimmick which didn't fit -> skip
- horses - i chose to walk - nuff said
- the way levels were designed i only climbed roofs for almanac pages, feathers or viewpoints. i didnt use it otherwise for the most part. bit strange since i always thought this was a key feature to the series
- optional mission objectives -> not always clear - after a while i learned to press select to make sure i saw exactly what they were.
- epilogue missions didn't feel like any type of mission imho
- can we please skip the credits at the end of the story -> 10 minutes of credits are you joking - isn't time we remove this stupid thing from the series. i payed good money for this game and i don't care about who made it. they got their salary i just want to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I haven't played MP nor do i want to. focus on making single player better or at least as good as AC2, ACB and ACR

to end on a positive note I really enjoyed the naval fights -> was fun to do them in between other tasks, just to spice it up with other boring tasks

my wish for next game:
- improve movement
- in ancient egypt, greece or china or even London during the industrial revolution. something spectacular the woods and brick houses are a bit underwhelming after Damascus, Florence etc...
- bring back the platform aspect of the game
- bring back the mysterious mind puzzles
- don't release a game with so many bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
