I'm going to go pick up a Black 920 now. Not sure if I like the matte as I have the white 900 and was holding out for a red.

So I'll take a look and decide in store.

I've also been told that the white unit is 4G only and as such is locked to EE, that's the only one that Phones 4 U can't sell sim free. Everything else can be.

Rang the Oxford street branch as was told that they have no stock, all stock they have is already 'reserved' by people for upgrades.
Funny thing is that they are all on contract as well..

That's good, on the website the handset price is £139.95 on the £36 pm.

On the phone to T-Mobile AT THE MOMENT, just got told it's NOT available on T-Mobile, only EE!

Hold your horses little miss customer services bod I told her, I know someone who just bought one one t-mobile for £36 a month.

*Put on hold*

2 minutes later I'm told it is on the 36 quid plan on t-mobile. But the full monty plan isn't available for employee call (50% off) so I got it for ..

Phone £29
Per month £41 (I pay £20.50 for 2 years)
1200 minutes of calls
500 texts
1.5Gb of data.

And no idea of a delivery date, hopefully in the next 2 weeks supposedly, maybe.

In my P4U now, two black and one white 920!
Here is mine

So I picked up a white Lumia 920 this morning, guy thought it was unlocked but it's locked to EE' I've tested with a EE sim, Vodafone just asks for an unlock code,£459.00 form Phones4U.

Now the problem is how do I unlock, I've requested an unlock code, I guess if I got no luck then I'll return it within the 14 days, another chap went over earlier and they wouldn't sell him a phone off network so I guess I got lucky :)

I'm stuck on wifi until I figure out a hardware unlock.

White phones are the EE exclusive colour, so will be locked it seems. Black might be a different matter.

Also, the 14 day cooling off period is a feature of the distance selling act (mail order), so you don't have the option if you bought in a shop.

But I ordered on the 31st of Oct. So I should be higher up the list.

I would hope they have enough stock to ship everybodys out, hopefully we will recieve them tomorrow. The weird thing is I qualified for the speaker so must have been in the first 500 orders which I thought was strange.

Been on the phone for over 30 minutes.

There going to ring me back. Everything in the system suggests the phone is unlocked and that it locks when a sim is inserted.

He said there should be no problem using it with any provider but it will lock once it is used.

I asked him to confirm a million times until they eventually started to worry it wouldn't work.

I asked if I could pop down and try a 3 sim to which they said no because it'll lock to 3 and they won't be able to sell it then. I've asked if I can pop down and buy the phone up until the point of sale. If it works and locks to 3 then they have a sale. If it doesn't work and its locked already to EE then they won't sell it to me and cancel the sale. Therefore they won't get ****ed over.

He said he didn't see why they couldn't do that as they were worried it would lock to a network they cant sell. He's going to speak to the manager and get back to me. I told him if it works he's got two sales but there's no way i'm buying it and returning it if it doesn't work because apparently they don't accept returns FULL STOP.

True, but I think there is high demand if they've decided to hide/drop the 12 month deals. Plus it will be first come first served.

As for the speaker, I think they've decided that since they're not doing the 12 month deals they will throw it in for all orders.

BTW he said the same case applied to the white version. That both while exclusive to EE and partners were unlocked and would lock to the network when a sim is inserted.

If this is true it explains the insane confusion. TBH I still think they have it all wrong and that its locked to the 3 networks.

The guy also said they were not doing 12 month contracts (but he didn't check). After worrying him regarding the issue of it locking he said he was a bit nervous about the whole thing.

p.s. he compared the locking situation to the Iphone, he states that the iphone sold by Phones 4U locks to the first sim card provided. (I checked as I didn't know that and it appears to be true).
