The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

I've just bought my first DSLR - Nikon d5100 - but after seeing Auraomega's phallic addition i'm feeling slightly self conscious :D

Oh, and a SanDisk Secure Digital High Capacity Card Extreme Video HD 16GB Class 10
Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera
Lowepro Toploader Zoom 50AW (although if this doesn't arrive in time i may get the Case Logic Compact Nylon Bag with EVA Protection for SLR Camera)

On my Xmas wishlist:
35mm lens
tri-pod
and perhaps a bigger lens - but i might give myslef some time to see how i predominantly use the camera.

That is white vinyl. I also have a roll of chroma green paper and another of black velvet.

The expensive bit is round the edge of the picture - a new house big enough to live with it :-)

Now to learn how to use it...

Question for people with experience: How do you stop it rolling off under it's own weight? I've used gaffer tape, but that's ugly...

I loved that bit.

Initially mine was for computers, then kids - now i see that if i enjoy this new hobby i may need another recepetion room/extension.

Wife won't be impressed...

/looks for people to blame on previous threads.

Hitech Reverse ND .6 grad - hoping to have chance for some sunset landscapes as we're off to Pembrokeshire for a week on Saturday :)

Received my Lee order today
3 stop ND grad hard
2 stop ND grad soft
Big stopper
82mm wide angle adaptor
105mm ring + Heliopan circ polariser
Wallet, cloth, cleaning fluid

Now need to go use it!

^ Nice beercan!

I've just been accruing some studio stuff to do portraits at home (and for small events)..

- It just fits in this small room, I thought I'd need more space, but actually the hilite works in quite confined areas.

2 x Elinchrom DLite-4
2 x lastolite Lumen8 F400
2 x 60 x 90 Softboxes
6 x 7 lastolite Hilite + Train
Various brolleys (inc shoot throughs)
Sekonic L308S Flash Meter

Everything but the Hilite is secondhand, £100 per strobe roughly..

I have to say, it's a lot easier to set up and gives very reliable lighting, it's almost too easy...

Last OC meet convinced me that I need a new lens on my 1D mark II so I ended up buying a 24-105mm F4L now :D

Should make a good little walkabout lens
