I reinstalled all my jizz as per Matt's "Official way to overclock" thread, and it's working great, EXCEPT: occasionally when playing games the screen goes black for a second, and then carries on as normal, but my card runs at 2d clocks until a reboot (my 7950 stays at 500mhz in any other game afterwards).

I tried restarting Afterburner to no avail, so I'm thinking it might be a driver issue? I'm running the 12.11 betas. Is this a problem anyone else has had?

Either up your voltage or down your overclock a few Mhz. If it helps it then your answer was your overclock wasn't stable. I was managing 1359Mhz in Heaven and 3dmark11 but would have to use 1333Mhz for BF3. It sounds like to me that it's slightly unstable and is sticking to 2d clocks until reboot. It explains my poor performance after the black screen so it may be related to you also.

Good luck.

I was used to the drivers recovering and continuing to overclock so I thought it was some bug when they locked to 2d clocks. Now I know. And knowing is half the battle! :p

Yeah it's a bit annoying. As is the F8 BIOS for my 680s as when the driver crashes, the system does. With AMD they are deceptive as you think all is well and then a benchmark/game runs poorly leading to  feeling :D.
