Gigabyte UD3H or UP4?

As I have no idea what thunderbolt is I guess no?!

Edit - having googled it I don't think so. I don't really want to spend seveal hundred on a motherboard as I am only gaming so seems a bit pointless. Therefore I am guessing the UD3H is sufficient?

Thunderbolt is a new interface which is capable of daisy chaining devices and displays with high bandwidth, it's expensive to get Thunderbolt stuff so I don't use it.

I got the UP4 for the power stages from the ultra durable 5, they run very cool and are 60A. I also liked the board layout.

The UD3H has handy onboard buttons for power, reset and clear CMOS. But the UP4 has passive cooling to all the mosfet.

The UP4 also has a better audio codec if I'm correct, Realtek ALC892 vs VIA VT2021 but these are the only differences I would mention.

Bottom line, the UP4 is good if you want it for the upgraded power specs and thunderbolt. The UD3H is a nice middle ground between the D3H and the UP4. But the D3H holds better value at £112 , it's even on offer at the moment.

Thanks for the advice BrianB, I appreciate you going into that sort of detail.

I don't expect to use Thunderbolt but I am tempted to get the UP4 for the reasons you suggested. I think its either that or the UD3H, as opposed to the D3H (even though it is on offer!).

Thanks again.
