Why oh why did Nokia close their own UK Retail Store, why wouldn't probably have to order from the Germans. Or better yet not make it bloody exclusive.

Ignore my last comment then :)

That's a point, should I buy an Official Nokia Charger for this, as i'm assuming this will come with a 2 pin plug?

true my friend. problem is: still have to wait x days and the unlocked part like you said. and I dont want to start a new contract either. they are only showing contracts on their website and not sim free

I would do this myself and cancel the order from the Germans, but the question is, are they actually gonna be able to get it unlocked?

I've just used any of the many USB chargers I have kicking about the house & it seems to charge fine.

nice find giles.... nice find. they hide it so well! i couldnt find it sim free.

but i think the rumour is still iffy where if you stick in one of those SIMS... you are locked to that network. then after 3 months, for a fee, you can get it unlocked, correct?

Well obviously you stick in the SIM you want to use first, if that doesn't work then you know the "first use SIM" lock theory is rubbish.

Has anyone tried the unlock sites yet?

I am sure I read a few pages back that somebody got an email advising that they couldn't unlock it and to try again in three weeks.

In other news, I have an Orange business contract and I am 12 months into it but I have an 02 personal contract which I purchased this for. Called orange and they have requested an unlock code from Nokia but have advised it will take between 7 and 21 days. Charged me some weird amount. £20.42

Interesting. I have a old Orange PAYG sim looming around some where, I wonder if that will work. :p

The 'first use SIM' lock theory is indeed rubbish. The phone is locked to the EE group and you'll be able to use any of the networks mentioned earlier. It won't lock to just one of these networks either; so you could swap between these at any time if you want (this has been confirmed on the wpcentral forum).

If you get a PAYG sim and stick it in then yes you will have to wait 3 months before requesting the unlock.

I suggested either yesterday or earlier today that a way to get around this is get a friend who has got a t mob or orange sim and get them to stick it in to register it to the network and then get them to apply for the unlock straight away.
TBH I would need someone to clarify that this is the position with orange but it has been confirmed twice to me (once by email) that this is correct for t mob.
The unlock will still take up to 28 days but it's better than 3 months and 28 days!
T mob charge £15.32.

I am on a t-mob contract right now. so sure I could do it but I travel to Europe and the USA and use a different SIM... so i cant really take the risk of waiting and so on.... :-/

and to pay more to get it unlocked and to get it unlocked also takes time.

sim free right from the get go for me :)
