***The Official Nokia Lumia 920 Thread***

Hi as i have mentioned before,on friday, i have ordered the white lumia 920 on a t mobile contract by calling them.. the lady it should arrive within 7-10 days..

today i have rang up to see what is happenign with it..the lady on the phon told me that they wont have the lumia 920's in until the 16th November (this friday)

but they alredy have debited my account of £56.95.. £49.99 for the phone and the rest p&p.
i was wondring, since they have not got them in stock at the moment..can they debit my card that early?
please help, as i would phone them up tomrrow whilst im at work.

now im wondering if I should cancel my cyberport order. damn it.
but for p4u for the red color, how can I order the sim free one since it shows its not available yet?

It's part of the contract application process.

As you're not buying it outright different rules apply. That payment is more like a deposit.
 
Had another try at getting this again today.

Popped into the Meadowhall branch of P4U and got the same as yesterday that they cant do t mobile full monty plans for some reason.

So thought I would give the EE store a try who had stock and would let me do an early upgrade for £15, in the end this also failed because they had to phone up the helpline to do my early upgrade and they didnt know their own store code after 30mins of trying.

Maybe I should take this as a sign to not bother and get a 3310.

They had them up for order Saturday, they may have just run out of stock. I got an order in yesterday morning.

I kept trying on Saturday ringing all stores in Cambridge (As I was seeing a friend) and in Reading (where I live). all said "we dont have them. just black and white"

same thing with the online. just "buy now" then "register your interest"

Yeah stores only have black and white but I put an order through on the website. Ordered it at around 10:30. I didn't realise they had them in stock until the guy I was talking to on the P4U live chat mentioned it. Perhaps they only had a very small amount of red in stock?

could be the usual p4u nonsense of them promising and not delivering. I've also found every p4u employee you talk to will give you a different story.

taking it with a grain of salt
 
I emailed Amazon UK asking if an order for a sim free phone from Amazon DE would work. They appear to have forwarded the inquiry to their German colleagues and I got the following response:

My order went through without any error messages and is just sitting there like all the other pre-orders I've made on the UK site. So I'm hopeful it'll be honoured.

My order also went through with no error. Question is when will they get stock. It's direct from Nokia and they still don't have black and white I stock which begs the question how long are we going to wait??? There isn't even an estimate.

Btw I tried to make an order from another amazon seller and I got an error after checking the shipping address so I assume the direct order from Amazon will be ok.

Also someone mentioned that failed orders are listed as "discontinued". I'm not sure this is true at all. If you use google translate sure the order is listed as discontinued but other websites seem to list many different translations for that particular word depending on the context. I assume its an error in context.

I got a mail from P4U this morning saying they processed my order and will deliver tomorrow morning. This is for a black sim-free I ordered on Friday. Good times.
 
So I received my black Lumia 920 on Saturday, locked to an EE contract, and here are some thoughts so far:

The phone and camera are lovely - probably the nicest I have ever owned. Low light camera performance is fantastic, and the flash is the best I have seen on a phone that used LED.

I haven't figured out how to extract gifs from it yet, but the gif creator is a lot of fun. (Skydrive seems to just have the photo uploaded.)

EE are crap - it's been nearly 48 hours and they stll haven't managed to activate my sim. Oddly I can make phonecalls though, but I can't even register for 'my EE' online. Rubbish.

Mac syncing is atrocious - currently the microsoft windows phone app will NOT sync music.

The vibrate function sounds like it is chewing nails.

Transfer of contacts form an iphone that used icloud was painless using the bluetooth 'transfer my contacts' app - much easier than mucking about with various cloud accounts.

Finally, the Nokia apps are great - maps in particular is better than anything that isn't google, and certainly beats apple maps into the ground. The ability to download the entire UK as well is also highly appreciated.

Does anyone know of any good guides /switcher guides for windows phone 8?

Also for those who used wp7 and were annoyed by wifi turning itself off after a few seconds on locked screen, its still annoyingly exists on wp8. Joe Belfiore has confirmed it will be on an upcoming update. No more details than that, so not sure. If a small update or next majour update.

In settings, lock screen, there is a 'screen times out after' setting - is this what you meant? Although just playing around with it, you appear to be entirely correct in that it doesn't work!

EDIT:

Oh and I ordered from P4u online. There was no sticker to redeem the charger and no included speakers. Spoke to P4U and they have confirmed that I can use the nokia redemption site from the 16th for the charger, and they will apparently send me the speakers after 28 days - did anyone else actually have them arrive with the phone?
