Took the RS6 on a track day today

You posts in this thread sound like an illogical rant to me. Can you talk me through handling and when it does and doesn't become relevant?

An RS6 doesn't handle well as said but its still got a load of grip. In fact most drivers can get to the limit of road tyres on a track anyway. It not like we have aero or anything in this comparison.

I'm impressed! Proper usage of an awesome car :D

LOL at the photo too.. Can someone educate me, what exactly is on fire when brakes do that? The pad material? The grease on the sliders or back of the pads, or..? I've had smoke from brakes before and that was pant-wetting enough!

:)

Usually it the paint on the back of the pads if its EBCs or something with paint on. My EBC yellows are now Black

Crikey. Mine still have perfect colour. You were right about the soggy pedal though, after a week of normal driving it went back to normal. I wonder, will it go funny again next time I give them a trackday punishment or will they stabilise after a bit of heat cycling.

It's pretty obvious really. There is no reason a Lotus Elise would corner faster on a track than an Audi RS6 inline with what the poster said.
I`ve obviously been going to the wrong trackdays :D

OP, not sure if anyone mentioned to you when they explained about doing a cooldown lap, but DO NOT put the handbrake on when parking in the pits after a session, even after a cooldown lap ! Leave the car in gear, but handbrake OFF ;)

I`ve seen rear pads bonding themselves to the disks, which caused horrible judder for the rest of the day and also rear pads cooling, shrinking and not touching the disk, allowing the car to roll away once the pads cooled !

When i took my EBC Oranges out to inspect them after i'd done 3 track days there was no orange paint left on them atall... The pads material itself was perfect and had hardly worn atall!

No - just sticking to fact. Handling is NOT grip. Wise cracks have to be wise?... It's not an E46 subframe :p

I think it's cute you think handling has anything to do with something on a race track. You can got fast purely by learning even if you have steer by wire.

Presumably you've never driven on a circuit where there are two opposing turns immediately after one another. Or that isn't marble floor smooth. And you have no idea what trail braking is. Or slip. Or weight transition.

Back to gran turismo with you!

Indeed, my name is Tom Cruise and these are Days of Thunder.... :P ;)

Opposing corners

I assume you have never been on a track day at an airfield where most the drivers dont know about that either? :P ;)

I also dont know which end to put my straw in an egg. :P ;)

EDIT: Smilies for the drama queens and to mask my lack of clique participation.

Ah, so most driver don't know about it ergo handling is irrelevant.

:headbangwall:

Meanwhile, in other news, a recent survey has shown that most people don't understand the intricate detail of respiration....

I'll hand in my man card in case the OP ever needs a spare. All my Kudos to you for driving the car the way it should be driven (in my eyes at least).

I always imagined that's how most A4 2.0 TDI S-Line wheels look when they pull into a business park just off the M56...

It was just a response to Clarkey - 'LOL faster than Elise's, thanks for my afternoon chuckle Ill have it with my tea and cake later' comment. You don't have to try schooling me.

It was a track day, not an OEM timing day with trained experience drivers putting is consistant laptimes.

Most fast cars at track days have dedicated high performance track tyres. a lot of those are Elises - and hence many are fast and have experiences drivers. Of course not all are and I wouldn't fancy those tyres on an airfield either.

It's ok - it was obvious Clarkey was joking and your comments are therefor null and void.

Oh wait

Ad, like someone said to you earlier fair play for taking it on the track!
