Lovely, that'll do me :) £22 a month for 60Mbit.

You'll be getting 60meg, but I assure you something will stop working properly and they will treat you like a child when you phone them to fix it.

Well I have been with VM for 6 years and gone from 10Mbit to 20Mbit to 50Mbit, and now 60mbit, with no problems thusfar.
Was tempted to go to 100Mbit, but tbh its overkill for a further £15 a month.

anyone know what the new stms are for this?

Or are they the same>?

PS tried google dns and doesnt make any difference.

Called today after getting several letters addressed to 'the occupier' with the half price premier collection deal. Called up to ask to change, went to India and was told I'm on my best deal. £60mb broadband, old m tv package and an old sd box?! For £42 a month. Asked for cancellations but told they don't work weekends so I'll be calling tomorrow.

Any advice on how any other people got their deals? I've been with this package for 2 and a half years without a deal or change.

I can't seem to buffer youtube videos during peak times. I'm on 50mb and youtube keeps giving me 240p videos from the start.

My download speeds are excellent but browsing is still severely pants.

Mine is the same, 60Mb line.

Have you tried using a VPN? Watching anything on YouTube is a waste of time, even a 1 minute video will buffer at anything over 480p.
However if I connect a VPN 1080p works fine, just get into a habit of turning it on before I even try YouTube....

Do a change of account holder to someone else at the address and go onto a new contract

Is there any reason for this youtube buffering?

I get it all the time, what is Virgin up to?

But it's not a perfect solution as you have to pay, don't you?

My option is to use a VPN just to watch youtube videos? How low have virgin sunk! I've literally been waiting 3 minutes to watch 1 minute of footage ;[

I get a free VPN with my subscription to giganews.... It's not really a solution, more like a temp fix. Apparently virgin use some kind of cache for youtube, which causes the issue.

I was in a similar position, 60mb, old m tv package but XL phone......£42 per month.

Anyway called and they agreed to send me a new HD box and offered to update me to M+ TV package for like £6 which I moaned at so they said they would discount that to £2 extra.

So call and follow the options to cancellations, they are UK based and can do deals.

They really have messed up Youtube. I could only just manage to watch one in 240p earlier, looked laughable fullscreen!

I can understand throttling to save spikes on the networks, but it isnt like 1080p Youtube needs massive bandwidth. Just give us enough to cope with 1080p, it'll be like 10% of 100Mbit I'm meant to get! I could had probably streamed 240p when I had a 56k modem...

I could probably download videos off the net and then upload them to youtube faster than it takes to finish one video

This is a day test for me done just now, Good speeds but still not the greatest ping.

I'll do another in the evening if I notice high ping or lagging when gaming. Pingtest is a good one for that since it shows that I get packet loss and high jitter in the evening :/
You wouldn't think it looking at those results though!

Hi All,

Our Networks team are investigating the issue as we speak.

We have had to investigate the issues on an individual basis as we needed to rule out and Individual issues.

We completed this over a week ago and passed up the information.

I have provided the Networks team with more information today and they will continue to investigate the issue.

We have no resolution date for this as of yet due to the nature of the issue.
Kind Regards,

Ben

If you are not in a trial area that are still the same and as I understand it if you are in a trial area they are testing roughly 4 different methods over a month (should be nearly finished now) and I also do not know these new limits/methods as I am not in a trial area.

Party going on in India?

Just phoned VM customer services for help with my Internet as it went down.

Anyway get through to a very poor line, with shouting and cheering going on in the background,I tell the guy on the phone i cannot hear him due to the background noise...he appoligises,it goes quiet then i get cut off.

So i phone again, really frustrated at this as i now had to go through all the options again,

Then get put through to another cust care rep and the line is much better this time however i can still hear shouting, cheering and clapping going on in the background like they're having a bloody party or something.

i asked the guy you got a party going over there or something?...did not answer me.

Whats going on VM,Standards are slipping badly here...not happy.
