Any issues with giving away sweets as promotional items?

I was thinking about giving away some sweets at an exhibition I am attending but I want them to be in little jars that I am going to have to make up myself. I have found suitable jars online which are food grade and the sweets will be bought from a sweet wholesale.

Can I do this or are there are potential issues with food hygiene etc?

Put a disclaimer on it that all contents are consumed at own risk and any kids stolen as a result of free sweets is entirely the parents' fault.

I'd stick with soft sweets though in case someone tries to break a tooth and sue you.

Thanks but I assume OCUKs harribos are sent out in the little bags they were put in at the Harribo factory. I'm talking about effectively "preparing" a jar a sweets to give away.

Some venues will insist on you having a food hygiene certificate if you are giving away samples. Depends if you give them away sealed or not.
Not a big issue, you can get one online in about 20 mins

That could work at the exhibition but I was also thinking of sending some to prospects or giving them to people I meet for the first time

Contact your local environmental health office and ask if they would consider this to be food preparation. Or play it safe and only use individually wrapped sweets.
