Hi i have a Laing ddc pump and notice it no longer pumps and moves water around my loop after i flushed and added new coolant.

any ideas? the pump makes the usual whiny hiss noise and i can see it working and functioning but the water on my reservoir is not moving at all.

the reservoir is connected directly to the pump ie, pump > res > rad > cpu > pump.

any ideas?

cheers

What pump and res do you have?, and is it connected the same way as last time?.

It should be res>pump?.

pump > res huh? So, the pump is frantically trying to push air into the reservoir?

I think you've probably broken your pump.

i tried res then pump before and diddnt suck the water out of the res.

My res is at the drive bay at the top of my case. whilst the pump is at the bottom of my case..

tried switching again and same thing, i can see some water inside the pump(have a plexi see-through cover" but water from res aint shifting

You had trapped air bubbles in the pump, doing the on off thing usually fixes it or disconnect the outlet side tube ending that connected to the pump and suck really hard to dislodge the air lol (trust me it works) but be ready to switch off or you'll swallow coolant..

The voice of experience I assume? :D. On a serious note Jonney you should really have your reservoir before your pump, it is like the one and only rule in loop design that should not be broken. If the pump doesnt suck water in that config then something else must be amiss.

No jokes! Lol but seriously SUCK WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT AND IT'll COME! The water i mean :p

sorry to revive this thread but pump seems to be completely dead now. it wont turn on and pump any water at all!

my wife notice a burned smell near my comp during the day so she turned it off and unplugged it. i plugged it back in and now the pump wont turn on and i think that was why my wife smell burning.

what should i do? how i can check if pump really is dead?

Remove it from the loop and test with a bucket of water/bathtub and some hose to feed the pump and some at the outlet to return to the bucket/tub. Disconnect the PSU from the board/components and use the paperclip trick or a bridging connector to power on the PSU and pump http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-021-OK without having turn on the PC.

It sounds like your pump might have overheated and burnt out due having to work hard/having low flow due to the pump>res setup. How were your cpu temps while the loop was working?

Alternative is to unplug your 24 pin from your mono, jumper the green wire from your 24 pin and turn your pay on. Will allow you to see if pump is running without mono turning on etc
