[H]Fall 2012 GPU and Driver Comparison Roundup

If you look back through driver increases Tommy, you will clearly see that in BF3 for example, drivers brought better/poorer performance of about 1fps right up untill these latest 12.11s. I will try and find the graph showing this.

In the ocuk benchmark thread it was agreed over a number of games that the cards were pretty equal across the full spread. Bf3 prior to 12.11 was a bit faster on the gtx680.

Your wrong psy, the X² is a GHz edition as I pointed out above on sale here.

I think you will find that this card is in fact a normal 7970 that has a factory overclock.

Don't blame me it's AMD that decided to release the GHz edition cards and charge that sort of premium for them, where we all know that a normal 7970 with a factory overclock just like the x2 above is pretty much the same as a GHz edition card for much less.

People pay a premium just to boast "i have the fastest single GPU"

Thats why AMD's pre GTX 680 prices were high and its also why the GTX 680 was so high for so long.

They are as bad as eachother.

But can you blame them? when there are plenty of idiots out there willing to pay through the nose just to boast.

Green or Red, there not stupid, and i don't blame them. I'd take advantage of idiots just because there idiots.

I didn't pay through the nose to boast - I bought a 680 originally because it was the fastest I could get for the money I wanted to spend and the 7970's were more expensive and slower at the time.

I think by saying that you don't see that to one person £400 is a lot but for another it isn't that much.

What so you are basically saying this forum is full of idiots(or a lot of them)

You got me, only by 400MHz on the vram though.

Besides my point still stands for the enthusiast amongst us- AMD provided the bios to turn any reference 7970 into a GHz for FREE, they have been available for months and months@£300.

It's called gouging, whether it's AMD or retailers, I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Remember though that out with OcUK, the 79 series is still cheaper than probably most reference 67/80's around.

If you want a custom cooled Nvidia then it just gets worse.

The good thing about it though is that Nvidia are slowly but surely dropping prices, not because they feel generous-but because they have to.

:(

Mate, that is a poor analogy. You have no idea as to what peoples disposable income is and to call them idiots is just plain wrong.

Basically he's saying I can't afford it nor do I want to buy one so I'll look down upon those with my superior price/performance ratio card :).

Can you imagine how boring the GPU market would be if all cards were price/performance cards?

True but at least he apologised.

A friend of mine has a saying he repeats which always makes me chuckle when we go out for a few beers.

"never take an idiot out with ya, because you will always find one when you get there"

lol This is why I use photobucket. I pay $1.99 a month I think it is for unlimited everything and the amount I use it, it is justified :)
