Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

Hi can anyone tell me these two things:

1) size of the dload ISO from a 7 home premium to win8pro
2) I just obtained a new 8gb USB3 stick for this - tell me thats plenty of room to make a bootable clean install w8 yes ?:D

Well, I'm getting used to 8 now. I did a fresh install, which was quick and the machine certainly feels faster and smoother than the Win 7 install on previously. I think I've gained a few frames in some games as well. May just be the removal of old bits, but the Win 7 install was quite fresh too.

Things I don't like - it's difficult to quickly sleep or shut down the PC. Requires some mouse acrobatics to even get to the menu. Annoying. Metro IE is next to useless on this desktop PC. Media Center has been copied from 7 with no improvements. Used to have a HTPC and it was great for that. Wished they'd made improvements.

I like - metro apps like mail, people etc. Work well and presentation is great. Performance all round is good. Beta ASUS sound drivers even work properly. Boot time is fantastic. Multi monitor support is better than ever.

Overall, for £25 it's worth the upgrade from 7 if you're into your tech. Slight shame that perhaps the design has lost focus of the desktop PC in some areas, but probably to be expected in 2012.

Just ordered one of these: Acer Aspire 5560G Quad Core Windows 7 Laptop in Black - NX.RUREK.001 which comes on Monday.
Would I be best using the upgrade to Windows 8 pro for £14.99? Know its not much but if not that £15 could go elsewhere ;)

Want to get the most out of my most recent purchase.

I would order the £14.99 W8pro. You cannot go wrong at that price.

Thought so, just been looking at a few comparison reviews and it seems to have a slight edge over Win7. Being that I very rarely leave Fedora on my main rig (dual boot with Vista Ulti) I don't think the lack of START menu button will bother me much at all.
Arrives Monday, can't wait! \o/

It's worth it,I upgraded my Win7 Samsung gaming laptop(only 5 months old) so it qualified for the £14.99 offer which I upgraded last weekend, anyway I did notice faster bootup and shutdown and improved battery life which is always great to have on any laptop, no issues so far :) .

How would they alter battery life, lower cpu time ?

Here are the highlights:
All background Metro-style apps will be suspended; only the foreground app consumes resources and thus battery life. If an app is not on screen and actively used, it shouldn't drain battery. Only a set of apps will be allowed to use background activity (e.g. for music playback or printing).

Improved idle usage of the OS.
On-system drivers, such as the USB host controllers and keyboard drivers, put the device into low-powered modes sooner.
Memory deduplication mechanisms to reduce RAM workload.

Are my notifications working how they are meant to? If I am on the desktop doing something it doesn't pop up a notification or sound when I get a facebook message but it will if I am pottering around the modern ui but occasionally it wont do it either just seems to work randomly.
