Hmm, my card is idling at 500MHz core, so maybe that's a factor. I'll install the latest betas (not sure which version of the 12.11 I'm on atm) and see if that fixes the issue. I'm running dual monitors if that makes a difference. I'll post some logs for you guys to look at tonight. Don't want to send it off if it's just a software issue pushing my temps up. Done that before and thrown money away for fault-not-found problems.

Maybe he means his gpu has no temperature, that it runs at 0K. In which case I'd like to see his cooling solution.

my idle temps are around 40 degrees with auto fan at 30% and running dual monitors.

My core idles at 500 from 1000 but my memory clock always stays at 1575 and never down clocks. This is also happens at 900/1250 default clocks too.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I know my memory downclocks, but my core stays at 500MHz. Someone mentioned newer beta drivers that fixed this? I'm going to investigate and try some different ones when I get home anyway.

What drivers are the people with low temps using?

AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta6 resolves the issue with engine and memory clocks running too high when the GPU is idle. Clocks will now run at the proper level when the GPU is idle. This issue was only observed with specific displays and was observed in the AMD Catalyst 12.11Beta 4 and AMD Catalyst 12.10 drivers; The AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta6 has replaced the AMD Catalyst 12.11Beta 4 driver that was posted Oct 23, 2012.

I've tried beta 5,6 and I am on 7 now. I've also reinstalled win 7 yesterday and again it's the same.

I'm wondering whether it's a dual monitor thing or its particular to Gigabyte.

Thanks for help.

I'm on dual monitors as well, so that might explain it. Someone else here said it should downclock further regardless, but it does make sense that it would be a bit higher on dual monitors. Would that cause a higher idle temp then? Not 20C, but a bit presumably?

I have 3 screens connected to mine now and my idle clock is 300/500 the temp is around 40.c. The second card turns off when not in use.

i recently bought mine. Happy with it so far. One thing I noticed is that it will idle at around 30-35 and the moment I play say a Youtube video it will jump to around 50-55 and the fan will ramp up and become quiete loud. Is this normal behavior?

I didn't get really get a chance to record temps playing BF3.

I don't normally leave fans on auto but for the purposes of checking if I have a decent 'batch' or the bad 'batch'. But I think idle 33c on auto (30%) in normal room temps is reasonable?

It's certainly a lot quieter than my REF 6970 leaf blower !!

Will come back to load temps tonight.
