In acme's chair.
I could quite easily change my sig to

I7 3930K @ 5.0GHz w' Corsair H100i / 32GB GeIL Arctic White/ ASRock
X79 Extreme 9 / GTX 670 SC SLI/ Silencer IV 1200W/ 1TB
F3 + 64GB 830 (SRT), 2TB WDC Green / Samsung Blu-Ray / Carbide 300R
Custom / Xonar Essence STX / Asus 27" x3 / G710 / Sentinel Advance II

(yes this is the spec I dream about at night)

and nobody would think anything of it.

How many people do you suppose fake their specs? I am always suspicious of *some* people with insane sounding specifications, especially on another forum I sometimes use.

If too many people do it, we will reach a point where nobody believes anybody :p

I guess it only matters if you actually read the spec and I wonder how many do apart from you. My spec is better than that. :p

I would think that it rarely happens here if at all. You have to be a real n00b to do such a thing so and the folks here would soon catch you out.

I see no reason why anyone would lie. I'd imagine there are a few on here with rigs like that, then just eating porridge for two months :D

When I was younger, I'd upgrade my machine a lot. Now it's a once every 3 years affair. Life got in the way

My sig is a lie.

Why would anybody do this? Why does this keep you up at night?

It does not. And don't ask me, but I am sure people do indeed do it. Perhaps to make their ePeen appear larger.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but I don't think the subject of a forum thread has to keep the original poster 'up at night' in order for him to create that thread.

If that is the case then there are an awful lot of people in GD who need help pretty quick.

I only use signatures to find people's (mainly my) post when scrolling down a page. The content of the signature I don't care about.

Lol guys, I wasn't really talking about this forum so much, more a different forum (as I said in the OP) :p

I find it as pointless as anybody, was just wondering how many people you have seen with blatantly faked signatures, and what your thoughts on the matter are.

It is only supposed to be a friendly discussion :p

It does not keep me up at night, I do not see many (if any) people on this forum who I doubt, I do not want to brutally murder the people who do it, and I have never done it myself.

I don't!

Personally, I don't understand why people feel the need to lie on-line just because they think that they're supposedly anonymous.

You would have to be insanely insecure to lie in a signature, on the off chance someone who actually looks at it might be mildly impressed.

For the record I have a liquid nitrogen cooled i7 @ 5Ghz, with 3x GTX690's in Sli. I doubt I'll be upgrading in the next two years, it runs YouTube on max settings so I see no need to buy anything new.

I see no need to lie (nor see any reason for anyone else to), but some people are just that way inclined.

If people really wanted proof that what was in my sig was mine, then I'd oblige.
