THQ in bad shape

posted by the community manager for metro last light

Just remember, speculation by the press rarely covers all sides of the story. They like to paint a bleak picture of the company but don't realize that we are still in a rebuilding process under the new leadership of Jason Rubin...takes more than a few months to get things right.

Urgh, worst part of EA picking it up will be Origin release only.

Well, that and there tendency to ruin everything they acquire.

Oh i didnt think of that. Really hope not as i want Metro on steam so that I have both games in one place.

Coming soon... Company of Heroes: Future warfare, a new take on the popular strategy game, CoH.

The player steps into the shoes of Space Corporal Daniel Daring, donning his huge pauldrons and fighting his way to freedom on the mars space station when it is attacked by some weak alien metaphor for terrorists and foreigners in general.

This new 3rd person shooter will have plenty of dlc including two multiplayer maps for £9.99 right out of the box!

Also for those scumbags thinking of buying this used, we'll be offering an online unlock code for £19.99 and if the user doesn't input this code within one hour of putting the disk in your console of choice, our special new security technology will enable that disk to melt inside your console and render it un-usable, because **** you, scumbag used game gamer!

With inbuilt facebook and twitter support for all your networking needs, Company of Heroes: Future Warfare promises to be our most social game ever. Network your way to freedom, Corporal Daring, and be rewarded with a new haircut or even new boots!

That's Company of Heroes: Future warfare - coming Spring 2013.

EA - it's in the game

Sad news :(

I worry about the future of the Homeworld series, as I said before... and as many people have said... I would absolutely love to see the third game being made. But truth be told it had a cult following at best, it was never a massive seller. If I remember correctly, by the time HW2 came out, HW1 had just surpassed 500k sales around the world. I've no idea what the sales figures are for HW2, but I'd guess it's simply not enough to justify a HW3. Obviously THQ felt so strongly about it that they didn't give Relic the go ahead to make it.

And I sincerely doubt companies like EA or Activision would be willing to take a chance on it (and more than likely ruin it even if they did). I guess Relic could always rely on a Kickstarter fund for HW3?! :D But I'm kinda of the opinion that we'll more than likely never see HW3. Unless it's in the far distant future and it's a reboot, by another company looking to make money off of the name.

Damn THQ were a decent publisher - it seems to be a dying breed these days with just several really large publishers mopping everything else up :(

Seriously hope EA don't make a move for CoH IP as that'd ruin it entirely - would still be happy to play the first but was looking forward to more of the same (but updated looks etc) with CoH II!

THQ are **** at hyping and marketing, that's their downfall. One of the games I was looking forward to was Metro LL. They've shelved MP to concentrate on single player and bring polish to the game, so why the hell waste resources (time, money) on it in the first place?

Then they mess around with trailer announcements and don't attend gaming expo's with working demos to showcase their game.

If THQ do go bankrupt then they only have themselves to blame as they have some cracking IP's.

This is why THQ have no money:

Even though it came out last year its probably still hurting them as it would have cost a lot of money to research and create the hardware, especially on 3 platforms and it sold hardly any copies. Most of their other games have been really popular but I'm not sure how profitable as maybe THQ do allow for a lot of spending during development I'm not sure.

I still think uDraw is their downfall in a big way as they weren't doing brilliantly before that but even the success of SR3 and other titles haven't been able to clear the debt that uDraw must have made.

After playing Metro 2033 again over the weekend and going through The Dead City, i swear i will cry if Metro: Last Light doesn't get done.

So how many developers are being affected? I'll bet the blame for South Park getting messed up by this will fall on Obsidian's shoulders again, since they only had a fixed lump sum for the project. Any additional time is a serious financial drain... even worse for a group like Volition who are entirely dependent on THQ.

I love Impossible Creatures & Homeworld.
...somone please buy Homeworld licence and develop / release H3 ! - With the option to take First-Person control of individual Homeworld ships during tactical combat!

From what I hear they've payed of a quarter of the money they borrowed.

Im sure they'll be fine.

There late 90s early 2000s wrestling games on the n64 brings back good memories.

Company of heroes was a blast.
