THQ in bad shape

So what happens to the development studios of the games when their publisher goes bankrupt?

They attempt to seal a deal with another publisher to help with distribution etc.

If they can't, well they can sell what they have onto another developer under another publisher but that's a last gasp, generally.

Who decides what, I don't know, that will probably come under contractual agreements.

Serves them right. Their DLC model for SR: The Third is a joke.

Their dlc model was a result of them trying to gain some income after the debacle of trying to sell the udraw to 360 and ps3 owners. I'm not sure how the break-up of THQ would work due to the fact that relic and vigil are wholly owned be the publisher which is an unfortunately common state of affairs currently.

Yes, because all of the employees with families dependent on their job at THQ deserve to lose it because of the DLC model for SR

Lol what a load of rubbish so by your thinking all crap companies should survive because they have people working there who have families, ridiculous comment, obviously you have no grasp of real life.

I have to admit, I thought THQ did okay. I'm a bit disappointed about this as I quite liked the Dawn of War and Company of Heroes series.

and yet THQ isn't a "crap" company, plus I mentioned no other company. Don't read between the lines.

I never said you mentioned another company, I did, you were saying they have families so they don't deserve to lose their jobs, this is the same for any company, it's a comment from a person who seems to lack a grasp on reality and what it's like in real world.

They don't deserve to lose them over some S3 DLC like moo was making out. I think you miss my point.

No again you still mssing the point, will spell a bit of it out for you, if the S3 DLC, was bad and cost the company money, or did not make the money they were aiming for, then yes they do deserve to lost their jobs, as it does not matter which part was bad, it's all part of the whole.

And if people post saying they deserve to lose their jobs of it, there must be bad feeling out there about this.

If you've got any games from THQ Store I'd recommend you download them all now and take a note of your product keys (I know some people with fast internet connections don't bother keeping game installers etc for digital download games).

aye, glad you said that think I best get all mine down, as I dont keep them.

and @ CaptainRAVE , soz some days I'm just a grumpy argumentative git :(

A big shame, love THQ. I can see Bethesda snapping up Darksiders/Metro and EA grabbing Saint's Row tbh. Plus I wouldn't worry about the employees, they'll most likely dissolve and end up in numerous other game developers/publishers ranks.

I'm pretty sure they'll manage to get COH 2 out before **** hits the fan completley, and it's probably their one franchise that could save them...

But that might just be wishful thinking on my part as I'm really looking forward to COH 2 :(

Is Relic anything to do with THQ? Or is it that THQ have published some of their games? Cant seem to get onto the relic forums anymore.

They are trying to juggle too many different things, need to focus on the franchises people want first and forsmost.. innovation is praiseworthy but you need stable franchises to have that freedom to "explore" in that way

Be really disapointing if they go and split everything up particularly because you just know EA is waiting in line to absorb some of their teams/ips

Be nice to see them learn their lesson and pull a miracle out of the hat to survive their financial issues but the odds are stacked against them. Their upcoming releases might yet do well, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it would "save them". Theres going to still be some dramatic shake ups after a scare this big
