*** League of Legends ***

Hi,

I found the LoL thread of this site before I had heard of the site itself, and you guys seem like a nice contrast to the people I play with in the solo queue. I do intend to start frequenting the forums on here, but thought I would start by putting myself out there.

I play LoL anytime after 6pm and my summ name is the same as my user on here. If anybody at all wants to have a nice relaxed game just add me and invite me

Cheers.

Join the OCUK channel in-game, people regularly ask for more in there. :)

That does seem to somewhat defeat the point of having a pre-season but never mind! Been looking forward to the elo reset anyway. I'm going to have a proper go at ranked this season. Need to really improve on my counter picking though :p

they have a preseason so pro players can take a break and so they have an opportunity to make drastic game changes i.e season 3 jungle rework and item rework

so new season starts january?

(know that sounds stupid but football season starts in august so dont know if LOL works on a december - december or a mid november to mid november for a seaosn?)

No, the new season has already started, for the pro's it will probably start January, unsure of the length, only Riot really knows that, could be 6 months, could be 12 months could be more.

So, I always seem to end up with teams that have no jungler, so I thought I might take on task myself.

I am aware of upcoming jungle changes and had a good read through it, but I am unsure on how much to learn right now given these changes. Viable junglers will change/expand and no doubt that routes will as well. So in short, what are people's thoughts on learning how to jungle right now?

Maybe just getting the mechanics nailed would be best, any good up to date guides kicking about? Mechanics wise, the videos do not have to be jungle specific, though I have been looking through TheOddone's videos for tips, even if they seem to be mostly how to's for specific champs

Thanks :)

Knowing how to play with your chosen champ is only part of it, knowing how to synergise with your team is another, and knowing what the enemy champs you are facing are capable of is probably the most important.

The amount of time people run face-first in to a Cass ult is funny, if she gets close, TURN THE HELL AROUND!!

Ganking is something you should learn now, it's unlikely to change too much, they just want to slow it down at the start. It's the most important part of jungling and by far the most difficult as you need to know pretty much every class in the game, their moves, how much they can take from the punishment you and the laner can dish out and how much hurting they can put on you.

Just dive right in now as you'll pick up plenty of experience :) watching the tournament replays is good as the lanes generally rely on a jungler to setup a kill. Snoopeh is a person fav.

Thanks, I guess with anything it is practice makes perfect :)

I've got Mundo, Warwick, Alistar and Rammus, plus Maokai on the free rotation. Will see how I get on with them and at least it will broaden my horizons for the future !

I'd suggest avoiding WW for now at least, he needs a very specific rune page to clear at an effective speed and can't effect the game until he hits level 6. Otherwise go for it and try to enjoy yourself. Nobody else wanting to do it is the reason I started jungling aswell back in the day and now it's my favourite role :D

As a jungler I will warn you be prepared for everyone to blame you for losing the game. Someone loses their lane, blame the jungler. Irelia gets nerfed, blame the jungler.

It's why I started jungling as no one wanted to do it and like mcknight it's my favorite roll although these days I'm starting to detest it as the more I play as you see so many bad players as the jungler, the more I play jungler with downers the more I want to hulk smash their face.

this

Jungler gets blamed so much for champs making bad decisions / dieing off their own accord

so many times have i seen people shotuing, why isnt jungler ganking bottom even thought they have the place warded to **** so jungler cant get close, or you have people who push really far up the lane then get ganked by enemys jungler and then blame thier own jungler for not helping?...

its a really fun role, i play with shen / fiddle and ive been practicising riven but just be prepared for some flaming :)

best way to play is to not depend on jungler, play your lane as if he didnt exist then when he comes to your lane for gank. go for it. so many people go for it and just expect you to be there....

Sounds like once i start getting involved in ocuk games, I won't need to jungle too much :)

Hmm good point. Well you want to just treat us as a pool of people. We have a reasonable amount who fill all roles. Generally Jungler and Top are the two lacking roles though IMHO.

Played a couple of ranked games (as support) recently where the ad seems to think the task is to get the minions to the opponents tower as quickly as possible. Just can't get past that one, what is difficult about just the last hit not the first/second/third and then miss the last hit :(

Tell me, once reaching 30 that ranked games are full of less morons?
Not having a very good time of it at the moment :( lots of losses, and not even contested games, just steam rolled.

quite the opposite. you get thrown together often with people who have no regard for how their performance affects you.

Make sure you win your first 10 matches (as many of them as possible)
Personally I wouldn't advise starting ranked for a good while it's steep learning curve and very hard to battle your way up from a bad start if you end up in a lower ELO rank.

Currently won 3 of my 4 ranked games this season but going to take it slow 1 game a day.
